i have a 90 size MP2 and when i look at some of the pics here on runryder i see that some people use the rubber deflecter on the end of the pipe and some dont.

does it make any power increase with it of?

is there any reason for useing it apart from trying to deflect the smoke?

i just want to no because mine has split and i want to no what, if any difference there will be if i leave it of.

As far as I know

You are changing the chamber of a tuned pipe when you add an exhaust deflector. On a 90 it should be insignificant whereas on a 30 size pipe, especially here in Denver, you notice it!

Or is this just an old wive's tale?

The deflector has no effect on power or performance. It "deflects" the exhaust away from the model.

Curtis said at IRCHA last year the pipe was optimized with the deflector on. I can't imagine it makes that much of a difference but I followed recommendation.

thanks for the reply's

your thoughts are the same as mine the pipe just deflects and does nothing to increase or decrease power

Most of the commercially available exhaust deflectors don't affect the performance of the bigger engines too much, but can have a more pronounced affect on the smaller engines. If the exhaust deflector is too long or too small in diameter, the back pressure will increase and reduce power.

I would go with Chuckie on that. It doesn't seem that it will make much of a difference but since CY recommends using it, I would use it. Plus it is not an add-on item; it comes with the package so better be using it.
