HelicopterCentury Radikal G20-30 N640 Hawk Predator › Predator Gasser - Not Available ? Really Tired of Excuses !

That is clearly my consideration tonight, if I go for the kit and procure the engine elsewhere, I am concerned about a. not getting the right engine and b. not getting the right carb.

Should I be worried about anything else?
Assuming the kit comes with all the correct engine mounting hardware (if applicable).

This is a serious consideration for me any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had a Gasser SE on order for over a month, I already have a predator 60 glow, if the gasser flies anything like my glow predator it will defenetly be worht the wait, I have a call into Century right now to find out the status of my order since I keep seeing people get on the list and get there's in 3 weeks or maybe they are only waiting for the regular gasser?

UPDATE

I just got off the phone with Century and the SE will not be available until atleast the end of the month. They havn't shipped any SE gasser kits yet, they were only filling the regular gasser orders from the waiting list.

JAX, if you get the engine elsewhere just make sure you get the 231PUH. The engine comes with the pull start. The mounting hardware, etc are in the kit. The only real worry is the carb. If you wait and get the kit and engine from Century you will get the 643. Most likely if you get the engine elsewhere you will end up with the 677.

Those who are wanting an SE will have a longer wait than those who just want a kit.

Copy that on the engine procurement angle. I think the best shot is to pick up the kit and hunt for the engine.

I dont think I care to wait till the end of the month to have a chance at an engine.

More questions, When looking for the engine I see quite a bit of the goped engines listed as the G23RC, exactly how can I differenciate between the 231PUH verses any others?

Same with the Carb, is the 643 stamped in an obvious spot to confirm its a 643 verses the 677?

jax

BTW, Foxden got exactly the same inputs from Century that I got on the SE.

The G23RC is a 1/5 scale car engine.
http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/pro...p?prod=ZENE23RC

Any hobby shop should be able to get you a 231PUH. Mine got ordered on monday and it was at the shop on tuesday.

The carbs have the numbers stamped into the metal on one side of the carb. Mine shows WT 677.

i received an e-mail from Centure today, and the engines are backordered until the end of June. The ones that arrived the other day had some issues (wrong engine). so i took the kit, and i'll wait for the engine. this will give me time to build it without rushing. since there is no engine, i can't just throw it together to see how it flies. the kit was shipped last friday, and should arrive this friday or saturday. takes awhile for things to get to japan.

okay, i just checked the horizon hobby web site, and they have the z231 heli version in stock. at least according to the web site. it also has the 643 carb included. so why is their a back log of over a month at century? horizon is the distributor of these engines, so if they have them in stock, why can't century get them. my plan now is to contact century, and have them convert my already shipped kit, to a kit minus an engine. then go with horizon.

spongebob, keep me posted on your dialog with Century. I too think the answer is to purchase the kit and then go to Horizon and pick up the engine. Saving the $50 at this point is worth about $.02 per hour of inconvienence.

Japan....nice place to visit. Hope you get stateside sooner then later

right!

I suggest you CALL and verify that they DO have them in stock, and that they are equipped with the WT643 carb. I'm not in the mood to go into details on either point.
Me, personally...... I have another angle to approach this from. You guys are just not thinking "outside the box" on this.

I'll tell ya if it works out.

I called Horizon and they told me they were out of stock- engines and carbs. My LHS also called horizon to get me a carb and the owner was told 6 weeks.

i'm really confused now. i just got an e-mail from the shipping department at Century, and they are saying that both the heli kit, and engine were shipped. which is totally different from what they have been telling me. it's a good thing, but still confusing. i still have to contact horizon about the in stock status.

Wow, maybe Century tracked down some engines and got ahold of some to ship out. That's pretty cool.

I found one too that has the 677 carb but have not heard how bad the 677s really are. It sounds like the entire country is out of stock on the correct power plant for my scale. Bummer
My guess is not to find out the hard way on the 677 but to just get the right parts first off, the difficulty is finding one.

Any leads are greatly appreciated.

Out of the box thinking

I was re-reading the WT-677 thread, since I got one (the replacement WT-643 is said to be on its way).

So I found this info about Daves Motors and found the little gem that you see if you follow the link.

It's said to be a replacement for the G230RC (the complete list of engines is here) so in theory should be an easy adaptation.

They also have the G230RC by the way in case one of you thinks it's a more doable task. It's on sale for $235 by the way. Here.

Don't forget BHHanson

I remember rbort raving about his Hanson modified engine it's $445 for the tuned one and $389 for the modified one. Don't know the difference. The website is here.
