I currently have G2 and I'm considering a change to XTR.

I agree that the graphics are outstanding but what about the physics? Does it feel real? At least as real as G2 or better?

Are there any limitations or downsides to XTR?

Thanks,
Dave

I like the online multi player feature of G2; I've used it a few times but I probably could live with out it. Even though I thinks it's cool I don't use it all that much.

Any other issues with XTR?

Thanks for your input,
Dave

I used both; had G2 first and then Reflex. After switching to Reflex, I can say that Reflex's physics is alot better than G2's, making G2 feel very fake. Im never going back to G2 unless they can come up with somthing better.

both sims are good if you have good set ups for the helis you are flying.

Reflex is the bomb with the best graphics.... Its like.... er.... better than watching a heli video!

And I have used G2 alot! I have bought 5 copys of that sim... first Realfilght... then RF Deluxe then G2 then G2 with usb trans, then 2nd usb when the first one got worn out....

Didnt get a good feel and much use of Reflex about a year ago.. I didnt put alot of effort in setting up a heli...

But now this new version rocks! I already have many hours on it, and it is my choice sim at the moment.

Umm.. isnt the biggest bone to pick with ANY sim.. is that the resolution does a POOR job of reflecting the real thing?

ie... real flight, you can fly VERY far away but still have an idea of the orientation of your heli....

but in a sim the further you get the smaller it gets... and the smaller it gets, the less number of pixels there are to represent the model. So when far away, very hard to know orientation of heli on a sim.

With this already an issue, running xtr on a plasma... the plasma has a much lower resolution than monitors/lcd screens.......

wouldnt this then be a bad idea?

i run 1600 on my monitor at home, and i run 1920x1200 on my laptop....

the HD capable plasmas can only run around 1078 ACROSS... from my recolection? 768 high or something?

thats like running it on your monitor at 1024x768?

I dunno thats my two cents.. i know a plasma is much bigger.....

in any case... a plasma would be better than a classical tv, (800x600)

what does everyone else think?

I'm toying with the idea of getting a projector so that I can plug my XTR into it. The do a model that's 1200 somethings (can't remember the word but it begins with L and is to do with brightness ) and it's about £600 over here. Aparentley that's bright enough and about 1/3 the price of a cheap plasma.

lumens

also a word of warning, the cheap projectors are cheap for a reason. watch what you get. also consider the price of a bulb when choosing. i'm not an expert on them but i have looked for a while.

cheers

That's the word

I know about the cheapness but i know someone who has bought one for work so I'll get to try before I buy I'm just worried about the price of the bulbs

Thanks for the heads up on the resolution... At Toledo, they had 3 NEC plasmas and they were pretty darn cool... Dont think they were the top of the line either.

I do use a dlp projector, but it seems to not be as bright as it used to be?!?!?

I saw XTR at the RCX show in Anaheim last weekend. They had it running on 2 large plasma displays, 42" I think. It looked great.

I got my XTR copy last week and I gotta say I like the awesome graphics.

In keeping this on topic, one thing I miss in XTR is adding my own music like I had in G2 but I guess I can just run winamp in the back ground.

I'm still learning to tweak the parameters to get it to fly more realistically.
More feed back to come.

Ok, I'm no expert either but I've done some research and I will say this. If you're going to buy a plasma tv, then just send me the money, I'll make much better use of it. Yea, they're cool and I want one too, but they're good for about 10 years, not to mention those of you thinking you'll buy the $3000 one and get a good deal. No, should have spend the money on a DLP projection, they'll last longer...approx 25 years. The plasmas can also suffer from burn in very easily also, more than most tv's. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be ignorant, just before you buy, talk to someone, and not the salesman makeing commission off of that $8000 tv.

As for the G2, I'm happy with it for now, The reflex sim looks incredible but I just need something to learn on.
