So, at the end of a what I thought was one of my best flights yet...

I tried an auto, I've done them loads of times before but this time the grass at the field is the longest it has ever been.

The tail touched the ground first and as the skids hit the ground the heli bounced and landed on its side.

But I got away with it very lightly!

One of the blades hit the boom- I can't tell which one because I cant see any damage
So the damage consists of:
1 tailboom
1 tail drive shaft
and 1 drive shaft bearing
oh and a gearset for my elevator servo.

Not as bad as I first thought
The worst thing...
tomorrow is a bank holiday in the UK so all the shops are shut and no spares until Tuesday!!

Sounds like my first auto on my R60. Bounced and rolled over. Not enough height or speed when the engine died. I was counting the blades as they turned

Ade,

Have you seen the weather outside??

I try not to fly in heavy rain!

Bevel gears look OK, I have ordered all my stuff from Skyline already. About £40 in total. I'm not sure if I can get the servo gearset so easily though, but I have a 811 lying around what do you think?

Yeah I have put the decay down to zero, worked pretty well but I'm still getting some drifting in Heading lock.

The manual says it might be vibration so once I get it flying again I shall check it out.

I also ordered some 90mm V-paddles from Skyline last Thursday but still not got them

Probably lost in the post, Damn Royal Mail!!!

Don't even think about doing bud, Just do it. Change all the small tail gears before flying it again.

I lost my infamous tag line.

If your getting drifting in heading hold in one direction. Adjust your linkage. 1/2 turn in or out at a time on the ball link until you've got it zero'd in. Don't forget to re-initialize the gyro after making changes to the mechanical stuff.

I lost my infamous tag line.

It wasen't that bad.. So you got lucky after all. I had a 'bad' auto for a few weeks ago and it got a boom strike when it smashed into the ground.
