What the heck is going on with my kit!!!! I bought a Century Bell kit awhile back and just now getting around to putting it together. First the bearing upgrade kit had 2 of the wrong bearings. Not a big deal. So I order the bearings. As I build the kit, the mast stopper and upper bearing for the main shaft was a 8mm and not a 10mm that was needed for my kit.. Not a real big deal. Called Century and was told that I waited to long and nothing could be done. I just wanted to exchange them for the right size ones. I was then told that its not company policy to just give away parts....WTF I wasent asking to just give me the parts, but to exchange them. It got a little heated and I just told them foget it and I'll just order the parts. (So much for customer service.) Anyway I ordered the parts and cost me $20.00, ok now we can finish the kit..........Now you have to be kidding me!!!! The rotor head, the Swashplate and washout assembly is for a 8mm main gear shaft and not a 10mm, Now I have to spend another $75-$100 for the parts!!! All these problems because I waited so damn long to put my kit together. This kit is a NIGHTMARE!!! Have any of you come across a kit that had sooooo many of the wrong parts??

P.S What helicopter are these 8mm parts for?? Does anybody have a crashed hawk that they would like to sell the parts stated above?

The 8mm parts were for the first generation Hawks (Hawk I, Hawk II and original Falcon) It's ashame that Century won;t honor your request just to exchange. As an option, you might want and call upon Dennis Cica. He has been very helpful with others who are going through some difficulties too.

Good Luck

Wow, probably could have saved some money by buying an 8mm mainshaft instead!!!

You got everything for 8mm except the mainshaft.

I should also mention, that if you got that scale kit more than 2 years ago, it was probably meant for the 8mm mainshaft, they must have stuck in the 10mm mainshaft in there by mistake.

Ray,
Who is Dennis Cica? and how can I get ahold of him?? I see that you and jimmyhua are from Guam. Haffa Day! I think thats right. I lived in Guam back in 78-79 in New Apera Hights. I think thats how you spell it. I was 9-10 at the time. Dad was stationed there while in the Navy. Thanks for your reply and help.......

Jimmyhua,
Yea, its my falt for waiting so dam long to build the copter. I did get the kit a year or two ago. I did learn one thing, Build the kit within 30 days. I was told that they would not help out after 30 days. So much for customer Service. I wanted soooooo bad to get the Pred. Gasser, but after the service I got, I may just look to a diffrent gasser.

It also sounds to me like they included the wrong mainshaft, 10mm instead of 8mm. I do feel bad for you, BUT, I think you'd have a hard time finding any company that would address issues with a kit that was purchased two years ago...

Yea, I think I messed up waiting soooo long to build the heli. Just sucks big time when you invest so much money into a heli and come to find out they packed the WRONG parts from the factory. IMO thats not a warranty issue, but something that should be taken care out of good faith, but what do I know, I'm just the customer.......I dont want them to just give me the parts, I'll gladly send the WRONG parts back and pay the difference and Shipping costs. No matter what happens I need the parts to finish this NIGHTMARE. Will I buy another Century Heli?? That yet has to be seen.

Give Dennis time Ray, instead of insulting him, why not try and give him some room to grow? He has done several things for people in this hobby that you know nothing about
I have Never seen a Century Rep say only 2 or 3 people have problems with Century. I have seen them say there are two or three who consitantly bash Century.
Frankly, Ray, please tell me a company who has No problems out there, they all have issues, I know from personal history that Century's customer support sucked at one time, and still needs improvment but they are trying to improve and I think its a good sign.

And to the guy bitching about getting the wrong part Please, go buy something from ANY retailer OR HELI MANUFACTURE out there and than try and return it two years later Yes it sucks If they did give you the wrong size main shaft, but after two years its your fault you didn't bother to build the kit or open the box? Man, bash a company after two years over a 4.00 dollar main shaft. I am sorry that you got the wrong parts, but you have to see their side of it.
Good Grief

Century

CJames,
Whether the kit was 2 weeks or 2 years, When you open the kit, you dont expect to have as MANY problems that I had. I've NEVER ran into so many problems with one kit. The Manual calls for 10 MM parts, I had a 10 MM shaft, the Bearings and some parts were 8 MM, so it would have cost more then just the $4.00 8 MM Shaft that you stated. Im not pleased with the Century kit, I dont think I was per say bashing the company. "IF" I was I would have said the "The company sucks, Dont buy from them, ect, ect...... "BUT" I did not. If you have read all that I typed I said and I quote..... "Will I buy another Century Heli?? That yet has to be seen." That is NOT bashing the company. With that quote, I think I was still willing to buy from them. I just was not happy with the first kit I ever bought from the company. Yes I did wait too long to build the kit.....Lesson learned. Im sure it was a major fluke that this happened, but it did, and I got burnt. I think I have EVERY right to be a little upset. I bet you would be too if it happen to you, but it didnt.......

Clint,
First, my comment about bashing was directed at rstacy, not you.

I understand your upset about not recieving the right parts, I would definatly be too, you have every right to be upset. But since you choose not to open the kit for two years, I can understand Century's position on the matter. In all fairness, after two years I can understand their position completly. I do wish they had you sent the replacement parts that you needed to get the heli built, but that would have been way above and beyond what is expected after that amount of time has past.
Very few, if any heli companies would have stepped up to the plate and sent you the replacment parts. I Hope the rest of the build goes well for you.

OK, settle DOWN, Gents.

Clint:

PM ME a phone number that you can be contacted during the day. I would also like a list of the parts that you still need to change out to complete our kit.

Thank you for your time, Gentlemen. Will handle it from here for now.

Century

I did not want this to get into heated topic.. I just wanted to express my feelings after I opened the kit, and found what I did.....My reaction was.... Dont want to start any trouble. Ive just never encountered this before....Maybe I have been lucky after 13 RC car kits, 2 boats, and 2 helicopters this was the first kit that I ran into problems with.
Like I stated, Im sure it was a fluke, but it happened..... Lets say we all go out and fly?.........

Well....just to throw something else out there...I am currently assembling my predator gasser and found that not only am I missing hardware (basicly some bolts of varying sizes..) but also my tail boom was "dinged" up. After spending about an hour searching for my missing bolts in my kit, I called century and told them of my delima, they said that the bolt I was requesting was not part of the kit (the button head cap screws that hold on the canopy stand offs....)anyways, the rep on the phone said that it was a "typo" in the manual.....but then immediately offered to not only ship me a tail boom, but also an assortment of bolts so that I could finish my kit... SOOO I guess Im happy with the service, but not really with the kit. No, I take that back, the kit is of the best quality, I just wish someone would have corrected the mistakes BEFORE they were shipped
