HI

I'm new to the hobby and looking for some advise on how to properly set up my raptor. I started with a used baron 30 and learned to hover with it till the battery switch malfunctioned and I crashed, so I upgraded to a raptor 60. The hobby shops near me don't seem to be too helpful with helicopters only airplanes. I have a JR XP662 that I used with the 30 and was told it would be fine for the 60size but I’m not sure if I need a better controller.

Are there any recommendations?

The 662 aint bad but I found when I was messing with the pitch/throttle curves it was a bit of a pain, if you can afford a better TX then get one, I upgraded to a JR PCM9X and I think it rocks , very user friendly, looks nice, big graphic display.

This is the servos i got; 2 *9202(ail,elevator), 1*9303 (pitch), 1*standard servo(throtle) + Gy401 gyro including the digital tail servo. Yust follow the manual that you got with the heli and get the linkages as long as they should be. http://www.raptortechnique.com/ - Have a lot of info about how to set up radio and raptor helis.

What you have is fine for a 30 size bird....

I am running JR811 servos and on the tail, Futaba GY401 with 9253 servo. I also have a GY401 with the new 9254 servo. I am also using the JR8103 transmitter with PCM Receivers (R950 and R770). I can highly recommend these electronics.

What you are using is fine for a 30 size bird.

Good luck, stay safe and have fun ! Also, use the pilot locator and find some guys/gals close to you. It is great when you have someone to fly with and help you with problems.

Cheers,
Rob
