I replaced the bearings in my os70 and notice that the crank has some end play in it. Is this normal or is there a way to shim it out?

If nothing is bolted on to the front of the crank there will definitely be some endplay. Stick a prop on the front and tighten it up and see what you have, should be none.

I agree – install the fan. If you still have end play then you do have a problem.

The fan is installed and there is end play. If I slide on the collet and push it to the inner race and hold it with my fingers you can see the inner race move in and out. The new bearings are Boca High Speed.
Should the fan side load the bearings?

Looks like Boca has a problem with their bearings, that’s why I always buy OEM. You should give Boca a call – they should replace the bearings or send you some free shims.

Listen guys , there must be end play to insure that the expansion does not overload the bearing. not a problem.

Boca said the end play was normal with the HS bearings. The called it a C3 fit.
