All,
I was looking for the best PI CURVE setup for my Sceadu with OS .50 SXH. From some suggestions, here my Pi Curve setup :

NORM TH CURVE 0% 25% 50% 75% 100%
NORM PI CURVE -1 2,5 6 7,5 9

But on 3/4 throttle she did not lift off the ground... so, I added full throttle.. now she lifted off for about three feet.
I landed her and try to add a couple clicks on PI CURVE setup on my radio to add more pitch degree on point 3 and 4 . I did'nt use pitch gauge at that moment, I just want to do trial and error...

Without knowing the exactly degree setup on my Pitch, she lifted off at 3/4 throttle. I still not happy with this setup, so I added a couple clicks again to add more degree on pitch. I concerned to add pitch on point 3,4 and 5. But still no changes, she still lift off at 3/4 throttle...

So, I curious how many degree the pitch now... after measuring, using pitch gauge of course, here the picth curve on point 3,4 and 5 : 7.5 11 and 12.5 degree. I didn't change pitch on point 1 and 2 so it still -1 and 2.5 degree.

is it because of my engine didn't generate enough rpm ?
I knew this is not normal.. so please help..

Thanks
AJ

you should hover at 5,5 deg; than you would have descent RPM

I you hover at 11, your engine is running real too low, and forcing. Stop that or you will cook it!

Take a look at Raptortechnique.com, they have good explanations on curves setting with tables, pictures...

Note: how can you get 11deg of pitch while you start showing us a pitch curve ending@9? Have a close check to your rod lenght and to servo horn position (you want to make sure it provides a linear/homogeneous action as it travels)

HUH????

Is this correct? -1,2,5,6,7,5 ,9?????????

If this is your pitch then this is your problem. At point 6 you dicreasing your pitch from 7 to 5 again. You need to have a linear pitch curve.

You should make it 8 degrees. If this a typing mistake of yours then it sounds like you are running your engine too lean and as comet said you will cook it.

Use a linear throttle curve as well.

Best advise from LCHelilover. Let someone experienced help you get it setup.

Your clutch is probably burnt out and slipping. The more it slips, the worse it gets. Yank the motor out and replace the clutch liner.

Don't worry SPB, some people write fractions with a "," instead of a decimal...

I would go a little easier on the curve. Something approximate to -1, +2, +5, +7, +9 for a gentle setup and hover.. Leave the throttle the way you have it set and test the engine...

Is it over speeding and not getting any power, it may be too hot and need to be richened on the high speed needle.. If it too rich with a bunch of smoke and no blade RPM, it may need to be a little leaner..

Now, get the needles close to a nice smooth run (even if it does not lift off the ground).

Next, start increasing the throttle curve at the mid-point and the 4th point until you can hover at 1/2 stick. It may end up in the 55% to 60% range at mid stick...

How does the blade RPM seem - Is it way too fast, or does it sound OK??.. How does the engine sound?? What is the temperature??

Do the idle "pinch" test and see how the engine responds...

This will all be a little easier with some experienced help with the helicopter...

Good Luck...

OS .50 SXH

Thank's guys...
I found a lot of people has bad experience with OS .50, its hard to tune this engine..
So, my suspect is the engine !
I have spent almost 5 gallons, now the needle position is 1 1/4 turn.. The engine is easy to start.. smooth idling... but when I increase the throttle about half stick.. the engine RPM become a little bit drop.. the RPM will increase again when the throttle more than half stick...

Ok, I'll start from the beginning again.. return pi curve to 'normal', I'll try as Tom suggested -1 +2 +5 +7 +9

Thanks
AJ

Sounds like you are either too rich, or too lean on the low needle. If it sounds like it's blubbering at low stick, above idle, it's rich. Also, it looks like you might be a good candidate for the "cat eye" mod.

Cat Eye Mod

Yeah right.. cat eye mod..
I'll try first what Tom suggested to me.. if i'm still not happy.. than I'll have a little bit experiment with 'cat eye' mod.. wish me luck..
