Which is a better servo for helicopter application, the 9252 or the 9250? I know the 9250 has a metal gear and the 9252 is slightly higher torque.

IMHO! I think the 9252 stays tighter longer. Mixing metal gears with plastic tends to wear them out quicker in our application. With that said the new trend is to put a 9350 on collective on non CCPM for a faster and stronger imput and it has a metal gear. Go figure.

They are both fine for helicopter duty. Aren't they both metal geared servos? The S9250 is 76 oz.-inch at 0.11 seconds and coreless. The S9252 is 91 oz.-inch at 0.14 seconds. Both digital servos are coreless and have 2BB. In my opinion I would go with the slighter faster S9250. Good luck.

I don't think they make the S9250's anymore? Didn't the S9252's replace them? I tried buying some 9250's but every place I tried said they don't have them in stock and don't know if they will get anymore in. So I just bought the S9252's and they work just fine and they were really cheap too, $59.00 each from RC-Mushroom.com I got them shipped to my house in 3 days.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

as a new heliman, why not simply use the 9202 on collective

maybe you want to go dig anyway....

oooops, sorry; didn't check your profile.
IO guess you'll need something stronger for a 70sized machine

It's interesting, but the 9250 along with the 9450 were the first Futaba digital servos. I got some when they originally came out back in 1999.
The original GY501 gyro came with a 9250 as a tail servo.
There were discussions back then about the current drain etc of the servos, but I always had great success with them.

If I was going to buy servos now for a CCPM head, then I’d go with the 9252. The gear sets for the 9252 are about $5 compared to like $25 for the metal geared 9250. I think most Fury Extreme owners run 9252's on the head.

So, my original Xcell that had the 9250’s installed 5 years ago is still going strong, and I’ve never had a servo failure in that model.

9252s

the 9250s have some back lash, and gear sets are a fortune and impossible to come by. 9252s are way better. I use 9250s on CCPM machines and they hold great, but 9252s are better.

A 9250 on the tail works pretty well also, not as good as a 9253 (or 9254 or course)

Am thinking about a 9350 for my Freya collective, but more $$$s

9202s are good also, may be not as collective for a 90 machine but if not doing mad 3D, are a good all round servo (not tail)
