Hi Wolfgang & anyone else,

I'm hoping you can address another set-up query for me too please. I am about to purchase a Logo 10 to learn on having had some stick time with other helicopters in the past.

From what I have seen, the one modelled in XTR appears to be a high spec model with carbon fins etc. Could you let us know which version with what sort of power setup is in the sim so I know what to expect when transferring to the real model and if applicable what I need to do to make it behave more like a tame Logo trainer

Thanks

Grant

I've got a logo10 and the sim is a pretty good representation.

What motor / controller / gearing you putting in yours and what servo's? easier to work it from there...

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response, from lots of reading of forums like this I am intending to go for the following to hopefully allow me to progression from learning through to aerobatics (not all out 3D though)

- Logo 10 Carbon kit
- Carbon Fin Set
- NHP 500mm Blades
- Hacker C50 13L
- Schulze 18.46K Esc
- 13 Tooth Pinion
- 13 Cell Sanyo RC2400 NiCad
- GY401 / 9253 combination

Any comments on these specs most gratefully welcome too!

Thanks

Grant

Hi grant
OK we're in the wrong place here ..but...
Thats a really nobby setup you've got but not how 'i'd go about it

First off forget the carbon bling, if you've ever seen BobJ's stock machine go you'll know you don't need it. just get a standard 10

Consider a very MILD motor with a 6S2P LiPo setup ..this will be about half the weight of a 12-13 cell pack and carry much less wallop into the ground.

And it'll fly a stack better ...

Tail combo is fine, I was more interested in the 3 main servo's

Hi Paul,

I take on board what you've said, the thought of a carbon model was a recent whim that would probably be best put to one side for now!

I was considering the C50 13L as that seems to be a setup that can take NiCad's and later LiPolys. I already have enough cells from electric plank flying to make up two flight packs so didn't really want to go for LiPolys yet due to the cost. Would the C50 15L be a better motor to go for?

Servo wise, I was going to go for 3 x HiTech HS-85MG's for a 120 CCPM setup as I already have a JR x3810 Tx that can handle that. I've also read that the Schulze 18.46K Esc can have problems handling 6s LiPolys due to the voltage and I was hoping not to have to step up to the next model?

Bottom line is I'm having to push the boat out to afford this in the first place BUT from previous experience it's best to spend a bit more at the outset to get good components that will last and the hard bit is finding the right balance which is where real life experience like yours comes in!

Cheers

Grant

OK
Look short and long term .. for now get what we've mentioned and "use up" the Nicads.. by then you'll have crashed some so bit's will be replaced.
In a year or so we'll be running HV LiPo setups with mild motors and long runtimes ... all this stuff by then will be cutting edge rather than bleeding edge as it is right now.

Try to learn with the logo in reflex as is ... but if it's too hairy go for the trainer or whatever (or set time expansion to 1.4 - 2) .. you'll only worry about the difference when your trying to fly them upside down etc.

And at the end of the day they all fly pretty much the same .. it's all about learning the stick movements.

Hi Paul,

That's settled then, mild Hacker (15L or 16L) and a Schulze fut-24.40K which is only about £15 more expensive than the 18.46K. Should be good to learn on and usable for HV when I'm more competent.

I can just about hold the Logo in a hover on Reflex already so will work on the coordination and orientation next. So why can I fly a plank towards myself with no problem but I can't hover a chopper nose in!?!

Thanks for the help, I think you've saved me a good few pounds now and probably again in 6 months time!

Cheers

Hi,

the Logo in Reflex has a Tango Motor, the 45-10 is a common setup with 20-22th pinions and 14 cells in Europe.

Some people run the 45-10 ond 12 cells to learn hovering, others run it far beyond the specs at 7s2p with >2k rpm.

The 45-10 would be my first choice in a Logo, probably with 4-6s. By the way, you can only use Kontronik SLH/Beat/Jazz controllers with the Tango, most others won't work well.

That's why we all prefer playing with our choppers

Did you get the time expansion thing? set it 2 then 1.8 - 1.6 -1.4 as you get it down...
