All my holdings are down, I can't afford that new 3DNT now. It has to be TT's fault, right?

Actually, they did trash the used-30 market. I was trying to sell a MyStar 30 at the time the Raptor appeared, and I couldn't GIVE that sucker away!

I'm still trying to figure out what that other thread was all about (define "mid-size"???), but no one who has a clue can deny that the Raptor created a major increase in the number of people flying model helicopters.

And that's good for all of us, any way you slice the pie.

Maybe its just me , but I can't make the leap of reasoning from Raptors being affordable to Ron Kyle's death.

Then again , you're entitled to your opinion , as always.

Just because someone can't afford the highest end, most advanced model on the market in any particular class does not mean they can't participate in the hobby, Seneca. Sure, I'll agree that there shouldn't be some people flying who are now, but there are jerks who have the most expensive helicopter out there who should NOT be flying! Whether someone should be flying or not is entirely different than WHAT they are flying.

You think some of those teenagers who are flying circles now around those who have been in the hobby for years would agree with you? They're becoming some of the best flyers in the world and many are flying the *cheap* helicopters.

It might have been with a Kyosho, but it's still Thunder Tiger's fault. Kyoshos wouldn't have come down in price if it hadn't been for Raptors.

Seneca can explain it better, he's more smarter than me.

That's like saying it's the guns fault if someone is shot or it's McDonalds fault if someone is fat.

What are you talking about ?uncalled for? it is a direct result of the heli's being less expensive and having every Tom Dick and Harry out there flying these things.I am dead serious.
So people that cant afford expensie homes should be homeless. Thats a dumb remark, less expensive has nothing to do with foolishness.

Perhaps we should make everything so expensive on the uber-rich can fly. That will certainly keep almost everyone out of the hobby, include, oh, everyone I know.

Good analogy on about homes.

Couldn't the same argument be made about guns? Heck, you can walk over to a pawn shop and pick up a 12 gauge on the cheap! You want every dumb4ss getting their hands on one of these?

I understand your concern about these being dangerous, but if we charged more for dangerous things, a LOT of things in life would be pretty darn expensive (blow torch, knives, guns, etc.).

I think a better thing would be to keep prices the same, but encourage all flyers to join clubs and MAKE those clubs adhere to strict safety rules. Get the AMA to start auditing clubs to check on their safety procedures. That would be money well spent, not upping the price for everything else.

Seneca, You are beginning to sound like a SNOB...
Rich or Poor "An A$$hole is a A$$hole....."

If you are concern about safety, then we should discuss about
proper training and certification before someone can fly these
things alone..

Keeping them out of the hands of lower income people is
not the answer.. Money and good judgement does not go hand
in hand..

Look at it this way.. a rich person will not care if he crashes.. So what
he can buy another heli in a minute...
A less fortunate individual who has saved up his dollar here and there
to buy his heli will care a lot more...

It's about being responsible.. not about the ca$h...

-- PS..

... If FOO was rich, then he would really be dangerous...

He's being a little careful because he can't afford to crash
his heli..

Imagine if that wasn't a concern of his....

I can afford to buy any helicopter I would like to. I choose Raptors and if anyone actually cares to know why I would be happy to give them my reasons..

My motto is this..Fly...Rebuild...Fly
