I'm starting to build a new ship, an Evo 50. But i still have to decide on an engine. Since so many people have problems with the rear bearing on the OS50 i'm looking to other options. Has anybody tried the West Eurotech 50H in an Evo? On their website it shows that the aero version of the engine has peak power at over 21,000 rpm. It doesn't give any info on the heli engine. I was wondering if the standard Evo 50 gearing would be ok for this engine or if maybe the 30 size gearing would work better? Is it even possible to use the 30 gearing on the Evo 50? I guess the pinion gear is smaller on the 30, would the gear mesh still be ok if you use the 30 size pinion on a 50 engine or is the centerline of the engine different with the different engine mounts for the 30 and the 50?

Regards, Arjan.

I have the West Eurotech 50 AERO VERSION on a Magnum airplane and this engine is AWESOME. If you get the Heli version, make sure to take the time to make a good breaking. I recomend to do a static one.
My next 50 size heli will use this engine.

Good luck

Here is a link to the page with the 50 specs.
I have a 50 in an Ergo 46 the motor has awesome power. You must run it on low nitro 10 - 15% works best.
They also recomend running there fuel Pro-Synth 2000 which i have been using in the motor with great results.

m1ke1,

What gearing do you use in the Ergo46? because on their website it doesn't say anything about for what rpm the engine/exhaust is tuned. I sent them an e-mail as well about it but got no reply yet.

Arjan.

Hi Dave yeah get that body to me I am definatly painting up a storm here.

On the Ergo I was running the stock gearing not sure off the top of my head exactly what it is but i will try to check it out for you later.
The fuel is an imperial gallon 1.25 US gallons and only comes out to be about $2.00 more per gallon than other fuels on average.
