Hi I am a newbie to helis but have a lot of kit from my fixed wing flying, one of these items is my starter...its a Kavan planetary geared type nice and compact with a cone on the end, I need a wand but dont want one that goes in the cone, instead can i get one that fits directly to the shaft, I have seen other starters that have these fitted but dont know whether they will fit the Kavan, any ideas? Does anyone use this setup and is the Kavan powerful enough for upto a 50 or 60?

I have {had} the Kavan starter overall it is a great starter but not for heli use
Drawbacks of it blowing the fuse when you have a load on the engine
Fitting a shaft starter to it wont have a sure fit in the cone and you can not use a shaft mount will on work on this starter because there is no shaft just a cone with the gears under it

What I use now is an inexpensive Hanger 9 starter fits my Hirobo cone mount start shaft
And powerful enough for larger motors
