WOW, what a monster it would be, if you "could" get it to tune right, I think you would have a very hard time tuning it because your motor would not be loaded with the smaller 550 blades, and you would need very large tail blades, even with a 39 in a Hawk you need longer tail blades (see "dnts" reply in the link, 6th reply)

people have put OS 46 in the Hawks...

With the OS 50 you get 12-14Min, I did use A Webra 61 in my Agusta 60 and I get like 10 Min.

46 in a Hawk

Just put an OS 46 in my Hawk Sport and got it set up in pod and boom before putting it back in the Bell 222. I am flying it with a set of Hirobo 570mm glass blades and it flies great in pod and boom. Plenty of power and I didn't really notice any problems with overspeeding the blades.

I am putting it back in the fuse now and hope that the power of the 46 will just give me a little extra security when flying the Bell. The OS 32 bit the dust so I decided the go with the $119 OS 46.

Great motor so far...... I'll post again when I have it up and running in the fuse.

Cheers,

kent

Emile and I put a LEO 46 in my Hawk and I can tell you it flies great.
There are minor mods (metal side frames/servo tray, some cutting on the shroud, anad extending the landing gear with nuts to lower them some as the engine extends lower) to accomplish this but well worth it.
I also installed the 14 tooth gear to take better advantage of the 46.
BTW, for those of you that don't know, LEO is a copy of the OS 46 by a former engineer at OS.
bought two brand new in the box for $50.00 at the Perry Hobby Show.
the guy is there every year and sells them for about the same price.
I also bought a LEO 37 last year from him to put in my hawk. It acts just like an OS, starts right up the first time, lots of power and smooth.
LT1PWR (Jay) has it now in his raptor and a year later it is still running great.
Mine is now going in an Augsta 109.

Yes Jim, here it is.
The guy who sells them is at Perry every year.
I bought the 37 for $40.00 last year then passed it on to my buddy Jay for his used raptor a few months ago. It runs like new still.
I then went back this year to Perry to buy another 37 but he had the 46 size for $40.00. I haggled (as usual) and he offered me two 46 engines for $50.00. I bought one for me and one for Jay for his new hawk.
I went back later to try and grab another one but he was sold out. Next year I will get a couple of 37s and a couple of 46s for future projects.

As for the size, it is identical to an OS 46 and I understand the parts are interchangeable. I was told by another RR member that he had to do the same thing with the landing gear when he installed an OS 46.

All Emile (Copterdoctor) did was place some nuts on the landing gear bolts between the landing gear and the side frames which gave it about 3/4 of an inch clearance and the engine doesn't touch the landing gear now.

Oh yeah, here is their website:

Well, I have this nack for finding deals anyway, but this surprises me. I even had to ask the guy why so inexpensive because I already knew the engines were good. He said that this was a trade show (Perry) and so he felt obligated to sell at show prices. Needless to say, he sold them out by that afternoon.
I also bought a brand new giant (6 1/2 foot) Mig-29 foam plane with all hardware and controls installed, just waiting on the engine and radio, for $5.00. The guy was selling them for $25.00 and felt they were moving slow. Well, as soon as I paid him and others saw it, they asked if I really paid $5.00 for it. He also sold out his entire stock that weekend, and we're talking a big trailer load.

sorry, back to the LEO engines. I briefly looked at the site so I don't know how much they are asking there for the engines. I'm telling you, these engines are worth every penny and then some. My new 46 started right up, runs smooth, deifnitely has plenty of power. I throttled up quickly and it jumped ten feet, but stupid me did not tie down the antenna so guess what?? NO, didn't crash, but it ate the antenna.
BTW, they do not make 60 size or I would buy one of those too.

If anyone has never been to Perry, it really is a show not to be missed. It is huge and anything you could want is there.
