I was trying to polish the CF blades with 1500 grit sand paper to take off some scratches as they hit the ceiling. But that also took off the shine out of them. Just wonder if any one know how to restore the shine. Any comment is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The shine on the CF blades is an integral part of the composite structure of the blade. Not a good idea to sand it down for cosmetic reasons as it has the potential for weakening the blade structure. Not a good thing
At this point if you plan to fly these blades be certain to rebalance them first. If the appearance is all important shoot a light coat of clear on the blades after first testing for compatibilty with the resin system of the blades. Clear Polyurethane is likely your best bet. Again, if you spray them, rebalance them before flying.

I think the 1500 grit is used to finish auto paint job. It was really fine.... I don't think it's gonna hurt the blade that bad structure wise. Thanks for the advise though... I guess now I need to do some research for balancing blade....

If you didn't cut down into the weave, then use 3M finese(sp)-it-II. You can find it at any boat store. I use this for the final polish when building my molds(keep the rmp LOW, no more then 1300rpm). It will remove scratches from 1000g and up,. but it's $20.00 a bottle!! You'll also know very quick if you exposed any fibers, they'll ture white!!LOL

As sugested before you may be better off with a light coat of clear. I've used automotive clear from Pep-boys in a pinch before.

Just my 2cents!

I was going to... but just to find out it'll cost over $30 after shipping and tax charge. And for a little more $, I can get CF or FG blade (both flies great and durable and good looking). One thing bothered me was the sales tax, even though it's really little but to me it's a matter of principal. I thought sales tax only applies when transaction is made within state and like90 is not even in the same country. I won't pay a dime more than what it stated. (I hate hidden charges...)
