In a little over 7 hours, somebody is going to be paying some HUGE eBay Seller Fees! Hope whoever wins the auction doesn't back out or that seller is SCREWED!

That ad and story was on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer this morning so that probably helps the bidding go up, thats ridiculous. The guy selling it is going to be laughing all the way to the bank!!!

I have mixed emotions

This guy is freakin lucky and might be unlucky at the same time ..

His wife may still have legal right to the dress and I am sure she has see this auction by now .. If she wanted too she could get legal counsel and sue him for all the winnings and stick him with the E-bay bill
I personally hope that doesnt happen cause he could use the money but he might want to be prepared for trouble.. If he went to court he would need a good attorney to prove his rights to her dress.

I understand that she left it in his house but if I ,you or anyone else left something in anyones house. the item still belongs to that person if that person can prove it was theirs in the first place

I hope him the best and that he is able to injoy his winnings

Bring on the lawyers

I assume he's been getting false bids, because you need to pre-authorized now. I don't know what nut would pay 25K for that dress.

It may actually be considered abandoned property if it wasn't specifically named in the divorce agreement. A good one for the lawyers to hash out...

That would be pretty cruel of his Ex though!

Wouldn't it be funny if his ex-wife was the one running the price of the dress up on eBay. Only to leave him with the ebay Seller Fees to pay! Ex-wives aren't stupid and by the sounds of this divorce, it wasn't a pretty one.

The bid dropped down to $15,000 now, must have had some retractions.

I don't think there would be a legal problem with the dress at all. In the description he said that he payed for it so he'd probably have a receipt. If anything when he found it he should have sued the father in law for the money that he said would be reimbursed for the dress. Then again probably just more than happy to let it die and go away.

I also don't see any possession issue. I'm sure he'd argue possession is 9/10th of the law and in the US the law is everything! Isn't it?

Also if the winning bidder renegs on the purchase he can tell ebay and they will not charge him.
