So last night I finally get round to fitting the last thing My helicopter needed, my Gyro. I was lucky enough to have a 601 bought for me for my birthday to go into my newly built Raptor 50 V2.

Okay so here goes,

I setup everything as per the manual, JK's setup tips and everything I could find on this site. The servo travel does not seem to move much at all, I have the limits in the gyro menus at around 120% as per JK but this is not the mechanical limits. I have tried changing the horn distance and shortening/lengthening the pushrod, none giving the perfect travel. I seem to have more movement in one direction than the other while trying to keep the 4.5mm gap on the tail as the neutral point. When I move the rudder stick on the tx (JR PCM9X) I get maximum servo movement at about 60% stick movement, the remaining 40% does nothing. This is the first time I have set anythig like this up and I'm just a little worried something is wrong.

Should there be such little movement from the servo is this normal?

Should the servo stop moving so soon when moving the rudder stick, what have I done wrong?

What can I do for the mechanical linkage to try and get equal throws? Any one care to measure the total length of a raptor 50v2 t/r mechanical linkage for me so I have a starting point?

Also the pushrod seems to catch on the guide nearest the servo and no matter which way I bend the rod is this stopped. It does not bind but is not completely smooth either.

I may be over panicking and everything could be right, but I just wanted to check. No I haven't had chance to fly it yet and I will get someone to look over it but I want to sort things out for myself.

Any help will definitely be appreciated.

1. Disable ATS mix(REVO Mix)
2. On your radio, set Rudder Trvl. Adjust at 100% both directions
3. Mechanically set your rudder linkage so that at 0deg Main blade
pitch, the tail rotor blade pitch is also 0 deg. You must have the
rudder servo arm centered at the 0deg mark.
4. Adjust the gyro setting for the right and left limits of the rudder
(follow your GY601 manual)
5. On your radio, set GYRO SENS at 70%

19 mm servo arm set to 90deg in normal mode should give you about 110 each way on the limits.Gain on the screen at 36% .Put gyro into avac and fly it.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try.

Using about 15mm at the moment, I have got it better but it's up about 125%. Fairly happy now, but will give 19mm a try.

Cheers.

just wonder if i can follow up on this.

mine is also the same. i only need to use about 2/3rd of the stick, the last 3rd does nothing.

also when i hold the rudder stick over slightly on the bench the servo goes to full travel slowly to whatever side i have applied the rudder. even if i don't hold over full rudder it still slowly goes to the full travel.

is this correct? i've never had a 601 and i want to confirm this is the norm.

lastly, how did you set it up on your pcm9x? did you have it setup on the rudder 2 pos switch to adjust the gain? or do you use the auto setup and have one for each flight mode?

cheers

Hi,

firstly sorry for the delayed reply.

I finally got the heli setup as I like, or should I say that I am happy with. It still does full servo travel at less than full stick. What I didn't realise, as I am still heavily learning, is that this can be changed via the D/R setting. If you reduce this figure to around 75% full stick travel is full rudder travel. I have reduced it slightly but not too much as I like the quick tail.

The HH mode is on the gear switch and to be honest just stays there. I trimmed everything up in non HH so the heli stayed straight, no drifting, adjusted the hardware to match and then reset the HH. Now it just sits in the direction I put it in no matter what tries move it off course. I'm very happy with it.

Not sure what you mean about the bench test thing, I don't think mine does that. Are you in HH mode? If so does it do the same in non HH as I don't think it should.

Any more questions just fire away, I will try and answer them quicker this time.

Is it not the same as the 401? That gives you full servo travel at only about half stick travel. It's different when it's in the air though, you get the propper travel at full stick.
