Anyone counted the teeth on the main gear of a CP hummingbird?

I thought I read it somewhere, but can't find it now.

Thanks

People, please don't feel obligated to answer just because someone asks a question! If you don't know, its not the end of the world. I would rather not have a reply, than have the wrong one.

I can guess too!

Jamie

answer to question

the standard plastic set comes with 120 teeth, if you get any conversions they usally have a metal 140.

The Elite Series Century HummingBird CP comes with a 140 tooth plastic main spur gear and a 10 tooth brass pinion on that wonderful(???) 370 brushed motor(???). No options, no metal spur gears. If you buy the new H'Bird CP this is what you get.
Jamie - now you go run your calcs

140 teeth? geez that is low low low gearing especially with that "hot" 370 motor
It sounds like it will have a lower headspeed than the FP hummingbird!
I guess 12-13-14 tooth pinions are going to be hot options eh?
Boyd, have you flown this thing yet?

The problem is there is no slot cut for motor movement to put the larger pinion on to that motor!!!! so your stuck with the 10 tooth pinion unless you lengthen the hole yourself....

Haven't had a moment to out fit mine as yet, so no flight reports. Like some others I have found the linkages and the ball in swash to be very stiff and will need freeing up before flying I'm sure.

On the pinion issue, if you are going to ise a high kv BL motor like the HiMaxx 2015-4100 or the Razor Micro Heli V2, you will be looking for a smaller pinion (less teeth) rather than a larger pinion. The head speed with the 10t pinion and a motor with a kv around 4000 on 3s Lipolys will be way too high for the stock wood "flutterific" blades. I am planning to start with an 8t on a Razor V2 motor and a pair of "W" (Walt Ferar) symmetrical CF main rotor blades using Apogee 830mah 3s Lipoly's. Just my approach BTW.

Thankyou all.

Interesting that the motor mount doesn't have a slotted hole to accommodate different size pinions.

Looks as though something like a razor v2 with an 8 tooth pinion and 3 lipos would work well. It will be interesting to see how it goes in practice though.
