Hi,

I went back to the field last weekend for the first outing in a few months. My TJ had previously been working OK, and I'd changed nothing, but it didn't appear to be working.

All the lights are functioning as they should (ie. Green on, Red when mag passes sensor), but judging by the audible rpm change it didn't seem to be working.

I also seem to remember that before, I had to hover for a second or so, then I heard it kick in - this time nothing.

I've read a couple of posts that seem to indicate that they sometimes forget their settings ??? - does anyone know this to be true ? - if so, then why - do they have an onboard batt ?

thanks,

Darren

It is very rare for this to happen but it is usually caused by EMR intereference..

Bit like a mini emp cannon from the matrix.. Strong magnetic field, static electric shock, that sort of thing...

Hi Mark,

Was guessing you'd reply !!

So you think it's more likely to be that my rpm didn't hit the right level ? - I guess because of mixtures (not sure if you remember, but you setup my OS 50, on my R50 initially - the one where the main shaft bearing went after I bought it at - lucky for me you were flying at the time, so bought it home safe !!)

Cheers,

Darren

For the record ...

Before attempting to recalibrate, I thought I'd pursue the theory, that it wasn't hitting the preset rpm, hence not kicking in.

This made sense, as the mixture obviously needed a fiddle from it's last flight (Oct/Nov time), so maybe it wasn't so high.

I increased the settings on my curves slightly, and hey presto it kicked in as nicely as it always did.

I'm still not convinced it's the rpm I've set - sounds a bit high to me, but not being that experienced, I couldn't swear to it - must go get myself one of those MA tacho's !!

Cheers,

Darren

I just purchased a mini tacho from J Perkins , just 23 quid and should
be able to fit it to a tail boom no problem.
