I'm trying to shoot a video of the screen with a camcorder (flying Reflex 4.03). I'm getting a lot of flicker. I was wondering if anyone knows a technique to shoot video of a computer monitor without the flicjer?

Here's a video I did of some Reflex flying. The link to the video is on the page. You'll see the flicker is pretty rough. Any suggestions to help reduce it would be most welcome.

Thanks,
David

are you working on laptop or desktop?, just because laptop should already have a sv -video output tha you can put on a vhs/hi8/etc.

for desktop you should get a videocard with video output

there is no way you can eliminate the flicker, shooting directly to the screen.

I couldn't download the video to see but if you don't have tv out anywhere you can try a higher refresh rate. The lower resolution you have your display then the higher refesh rate you can run. That should give it less of a flicker but there's no way you'll get brilliant results though

It is a desktop PC, and I'll be needing to upgrade the vidcard for XTR anyway, so I will make sure the new one has video out capability.

Thanks for the advice, that should be just what I needed.

U need a better monitor, on my camcorder i will see flicker on any monitor that has a refresh rate of 85hz or less...

try running your monitor at 100hz or higher....(much nicer on the eyes )

most monitors cannot support 85hz above 1024x768 resolution, might have to lower your resolution to get the 100hz option...
