Doing my best impression of Dumb and Dumber, I managed to start my Hawk in idle up. While I had my hand on the head, I didn't have my foot on the skid and the bird twisted on me. Before I could kill the engine, it wrapped the cord of my starter around the head and broke or bent all the linkages from the swash to the blades and mixer. Most unfortunate, it also ripped the bolt for the anti-rotation bracket out of the swash. I wasn't able to locate it or the hard plastic case that goes over it.

So, my question is, can these be had seperately (really doubting it) or will a new anti-rotation bracket have to be purchased for those pieces? I think I have an appropriately sized bolt, but no hard plastic deally to go over it.

Thanks,
Dan

i found a long thin white plastic tube at my local hobby store, which i believe was originally intented for use on planes to run control surface wires down, a 3mm bolt fitted perfectly into it, so i cut it down to the right size and it's been doing a nice job since.

Dan,

If you can't find the plastic tube that Gareth refers to, I've used two layers of heat shrink tubing successfully in the past.

Is there supposed to be a nut as well? I found a 3mm bolt to try and it can just keep threading into the swash. I never had to assemble that part as I purchased the Hawk used, so I don't quite remember how it went. If someone wouldn't mind posting a pic, that would be great.

Thanks,
Dan

thats a shame ninja, sounds as if when it ripped out it made the hole too big, mine just threads straight into the swashplate, i suppose the only solution for that may be to clean the hole out with alcohol, and use either epoxy or thick ca mixed with baking soda, to fill it in then redrill the hold ready to accept the M3 bolt.

Gareth, sorry, I didn't quite say what I'd meant to say in my last post. Thankfully, the hole doesn't seem to be stripped and the bolt threads in no problem, but it keeps going. There's nothing to set the depth of how far it will screw in. Is there supposed to be a nut as well, or is it just the hard plastic that sets the depth it screws in? Or did something indeed break and it shouldn't screw in past a certain point?

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,

The plastic sets the depth, but I'd use some CA on the threads also.

oh yeah now i'm with ya, to answer all i do with mine is screw it in till it just comes out the other side, then twist the ball links that are connected to the long balls on the swashplate full over and turn the head, to check that even at the extreme's the ball links cant hit the slightly exposed part of the screw.
