What are the major differances between the two batteries? Could I run a LI-ION in my Aerohawk? The reason I ask is because All Electronics is selling a 3.7v 1400 mAh LI-ION cell for $5.50. It measures 1.94" x 1.32" x 0.4". At $5.50 each I could build a 7.4v 1400mAh pack for $11.00. They are also selling a lithium-ion charger for $4.50. The charger comes with 12vdc 300mA power supply. I know the charge times may be long with this setup, but for under $20.00 you could get both as a very cheap entry into experimenting with lithium cells. Does this sound good, or should I just jump into poly cells?

The thing to check is...

...can these cells deliver enough current to fly your heli. The answer is very likely to be no.

I was wondering about the current earlier today. The cell is at allelectronics.com. The part# is BTE-45, maybe you could take a look and see what you think of it.

Definitely no.

These cells only deliver about half their capacity at only 2C and with a mean average voltage of only about 3.3V. The internal impedance of these cells is way too high to consider.

In other words, you wouldn't get off the ground and you would damage the cells even trying..
