For a Hornet 2
Should I go with a 4 cell 1200 mA Etec Pack (100g) or Thunder Power 3 cell 2100 mA Pack (127g)? I'm interested in longer flight times. Present flight time about 9 minutes with a 3 cell 1200 mA Etec pack.

HiMax 2015-4100
Pheonix 10
11 tooth pinion

Will a 12 tooth pinion shorten my flight time?

Gary,

I'm running 3 cell Thunder Power 1320s and get about 12mins 3D with a 12T pinion. I am sure with a lower tooth pinion you could get more time but less 3D out of it.

The Etech cells are very poor for the hornet. If you fly 2S2P cells you will get longer flights, but quite a bit less power. You would also probalby need about a 16 tooth pinion. If you fly 3S1P you will have the power. I really have only had very good luck with Thunderpower batteries. The 2100 my work, but you will be quite a bit over weight and that does not help flight times.

Probably a good duration combo would be 3 cell 1300 Thunderpower, and run a 10 tooth pinion. You will have less head speed with the 10 tooth, but you should have 15 min of solid flying. It will not 3D all that well, but it will fly fine.

nobody seems to mind their hornet's weight anymore. Are the lipo's and brushless combo's that unsensitive when it comes too duration? I also have the feeling that i used to read people having 20 minutes plus flights on the hornetI. Is that out of the question with the hornet II ? I can't imagine the HII being less effecient so it probably boils down to the fact that most want performance instead of 20 min. flights but still....
