I currently fly a Raptor 50 V2 with an Eclipse 7 & GY401 gyro and I'm considering adding a governor. I'm leaning towards the Throttle Jockey Pro.

Does anyone else have this setup?

My gyro is on Ch5 right now but I've seen posts where it needed to be moved to Ch7 to make room for a GV-1. Is this also true for the TJ Pro?

Any setup tips for this config?

Thanks,
Dave

I actually just emailed MA about this type of question, I will let you know what they say when I get the email back.

Greg,

I noticed that they list the Eclipse on their website and give some instructions on how to config it but I didn't see any reference to using the governor with a gyro.

Please keep me posted.

Thanks,

Dave

channel 6 is collective on the eclipse, would have to be ch. 7. but I still havent' heard back from MA yet on how I would want to set it up.

ok, here is what I got as a reply. If you use channel 5 (which is hte gyro channel which has different gains for different flight modes) for your gyro, you will use ch7 for off/on (one speed) for the governor. the governor WILL turn off when you toggle throttle hold as long as the throttle hold setting is less than 25%.

the alternative is to use Ch 7 for gyro which means one gyro gain in heading hold only is available. but you can (through a PITA procedure found on the MA website) set up the governor on ch5 using the GYRO menu to set the headspeeds. the problem with this is that if you are using a 401 you will find that you need different gains for the different headspeeds, which you now, on an eclipse can not achieve. I am going to play with some mixing this weekend and see if I can figure something out but I think that as far as we are concerned here we are stuck.... And if you are always going to use one headspeed, use the on/off toggle and keep the gyro where it belongs. Damn, must try to play with this abit, this may push me far enough to finally buy the 9Z I've always wanted.

Greg,

I run this exact setup on my Raptor 60, I have the TJ Pro in CH 5 so I can achive 2 different head speeds, and the Gyro is in CH7, I always fly in HH and have it set to one setting, I don't change the HH gain and it flys fine, I perfer to have different gov head speeds to different gyro gain settings, just personal preference. I do wish the radio could do both, and an extra switch for landing gear on my Airwolf project.

Maybe a 9Z as well.

Thanks for the info Greg.

I'm leaning towards moving my gyro to ch7 as I always fly in HH mode with a single gain setting. At least until I get better. Then maybe I'll be looking at that 9ZHP WCII as well

Greg,

Did you get a chance to play around with the setups?

What was your final choice?

Thanks,
Dave

I think you might be able to do it using PMIX one by doing the following (I don't have a governor to test this on so you will HAVE to get a tack to check your settings). Play with PMIX one and map master as 5, slave as 7. put your gyro into 5 and set it up as you would if you were not running a governor, as the pmix does not map from the gyro screen, it maps from switch position just like if you did the mix in an airplane mode. so what you get when you turn on the mix is that the ch7 output will be at one of three different positions, which are controlled in the PMIX screeen. So how I would test this would be the following. set the mix percent so that in normal mode the governor is off. (on my TX, one direction mix percent works for the switch in normal mode, the other two positions are both using the opposite direction mix) then set Idle up 2 as your top headspeed. you are now stuck with whatever idle up 1 gives you. the most dangerous thing about this is that throttle hold will NOT disengage the governor, you have to toggle to normal and then throttle hold. All in all, while I think it might work, I would ADVISE AGAINST doing this, as it may just end up being one big cluster****. To me it looks like new TX time. man I wish the futaba 7C was out when I was looking for a tx a few years ago.
