ok, so I have 2 CP's coming in the mail this week, 1 is going to stay stock and the other is going to be brushless, what motors and ESC's would be the best to use, any and all ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

do I need to change the tail motor to brushless also or can I still use the stock motor with a brushless main motor?

thanks for any assistance

I don't know how many times I've answered this question in the last week. Have you read the current topics lately?

Oh well...

brushless: himax 2015-4100, astro 801h, razor heli v2 are popular, I
have a himax, works great
ESCs: CC Phoenix 10 on the mains, pixie 7p on the tail (With red RX
lead cut somehow to disable BEC - the main ESC provides BEC
already)

No, you don't need a brushless tail, unless you have too much money lying around and have a compulsive need to spend or something. The GWS EDP50-XC will do nicely. You're welcome to try the stock motor but it probably won't be able to keep up very well. There's a dual stock motor setup floating around also, you might try that.

I'm thinking of using a Hacker B20-22S or B20-22L. Will both of these work? What's the difference between them? Also, what pinion will I need?

Thanks

any ideas on where to get a carbon fiber boom

what is the century part number on the carbon fiber flybar paddles for the hummingbird CP

Thanks ahead of time for the info

Some people have modified the aluminum plate to fit the himax; I just mounted it as is, with only the shaft ring contacting the aluminum plate. This has worked great for me; just make sure you don't tilt the motor either way by accident when screwing it down.

Yes, disable BEC on the ICS50 (disconnect red RX connector lead).

Isn't the boom already carbon fiber? Or did you break yours?

I broke it, but acutally the boom is just carbon composite, and I was looking for phenolic carbon fiber tubing, high pressure fromed for super strength, I think I spelled phenolic wrong but hopfully you understand, I just ordered helihobby aluminum booms, will try those

Thanks for the fast reply
