Not sure where to ask this question but
Can I cover the full antennas with shrink wrap on my satallite antennas ?
Hopefully this will not effect the reception. Is that correct ?

Yes, that will work, but I like to use Robart air retract tubing. It is a hard rubber, fits tightly over the nibs on the sat and will not let the antenna wire kink or bend sharply.

You can get it at Tower for about $7.00 a roll and that will last forever. Neither will interfere with the signal reception.

Thanks. I'll get some. But last night I used just regular black srink wrap. It was the right size. Hopefully it will work. Thanks for your help

I was recently told about heat shrink, instead of the fuel tubing I always used...it works great.

I'll have to look at the Robart tubing though.

Is this the correct stuff rcflyer?

The air tubing stuff works well. I'm using some clear stuff I got from McMaster.

That's it. If you don't like the colored, it also comes in black, and that is what I use.

Cool, I will look for the black.

Also, what I really like about it is that it doesn't come off once you get it on the RX nib.

I typically use heat shrink tubing with a drop of super glue to keep it in place...

Been using heat shrink since the DX7 was released, with some hot glue gun glue around the base (before the antenna's had the nubs) - also have a length of the air retract tubing and that works really well. both are better than fuel tubing from my experience.

I had the black Robart tubing, but chickened out using it. I figured the clear would allow me to see the antenna just in case anything bad happened to it. The black is better looking though.

Once you get it on, I don't think there is any way the antenna can have anything happen to it.

That being said, though, you do have to be careful installing it not to let it slip and bend the antenna wire while fitting it over the nib. I think once it is fully seated on the nib, whatever you do to it that could damage the antenna itself would have to break off the nib on the RX case.

I cut mine so that there is only the slightest (maybe 1mm) of antenna sticking out. I know the signal isn't affected by the tubing, but I just felt better for some reason being able to just see the end of the antenna.
