My Posts This: Topic Forum | i would say that by soaking it in the oven cleaner for a couple of hours is the likely cause for the damage... that stuff works much better if you heat the parts up first, then spray it and leave it on for no more then 15-20 minutes at a time. align doesnt use billet aluminum for their parts, they cast the parts then finish cnc them, so the chemical makeup of the parts are slightly different then that of a parts being made from a solid piece of billet.
the pots are from the lye being left on too long. you can sand the parts down to get rid of most of them and buffing them with gradual steps of the right compounds can pull the rest out, but im not so sure i would trust the head now, but thats my opinion
ive done parts plenty of times going the oven cleaner route and always heat the part in the over first at 300 degrees for 15 minutes, pull it out and then spray it with the cleaner and let it set for 15 minutes, then rinse and repeat (if necessary) |
