My Posts This: Topic  Forum		this is my second heli, and first full build. the instructions were well laid out, and fairly easy to follow. a couple of exceptions. getting the fittings in the tank required some creativity. the set screws for the tail rotor assembly (that go internally into the shaft) were missing from my kit. other than that it was a pleasure to build. now i'm just waiting for those missing screws so i can finish and fly this thing.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		All I can say, is this thing is awesome so far although a couple friends can't get over the weight issue. I told them it's not a glow 50 sized, what to you expect? No parts missing so far( Knock on wood) and Doug at Century has been awesome at trying to get this carb issue worked out. Everyone will be very happy in the future.

Very happy to see that Century has been working out past issues. I give them an A+ and glad to own Century products once again.

Now if I can just get my Hawk from the LHS......

The weight is not really that big a factor once you get it into the air. Remember, although it holds 22 OZ of fuel, a half tank lasts 15 minutes. Also, you can help manage it with good battery selection.

Bill Meador and the Century design/engineering team have put ALOT of effort into this project. I agree, they are to be commended.

Glad that you've not had any problems with the build. I had spoken to Doug a few days ago and mentioned that you were having some difficulty finding a 643. Glad to hear he hooked you up.

One thing to point out: be sure that you have the mainshaft "stretched out" and locked down prior to setting the gear mesh for the tail transmission. A couple of guys have had to go back and redo that setup.

Yeah, I missed that when I had the Hawk. Made sure I got it this time. So far so good.

Curtis was cruising around at 1850.....
Seems like I'm high 12, low 13 LB range......I'll have to check again
Auto's with 700's are OK.....not alot of reserve hang time on the bottom.....720's help stretch auto's out more.
G-26.......hmmmmmm
In the "as made today" form of the 26, naaaa.....the 231 is so smooth and powerful it makes a great package. There is some modified G-26 engines that I am keeping an eye on. That may be something to try out.

Having it all to do over again......I'm happy with it. Maybe try a 26 modified on my next one.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I run the 6.42 ratio with 1800 in normal and 1950 in Idle 1 on the Century Speed Torpedo. I am using Ozark Camper fuel 2oz of Amsoil "Saber Professional ATP 100:1" to a gallon.

I am pulling right at +/-11 with the Rotortech 700s. The autos are identical to the current popular 60 size glow helis.

My Pred Gasser weighs 12.4 lbs dry and ready to go. I fill it 1/2 full and fly intermediate 3D for 15mins.

The 231 is more than capable for HARDCORE 3D with proper gearing/blades/setup. The 260 is practically unlimited power from what I'm told. I'll try that one later on. This 231 is a handful as it is.

I'm not going back to glow 90s.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		If I remember correctly the CF glow Max conversion takes off 6ozs. So, I would assume that would be close to the same on the Gasser CF frames.

They are being worked on as we chat.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		My Predator gasser is due to be delivered Monday and I'm anxious to get a little head start on it. I'm heading to Harbor Freight tomorrow here in St. Louis to pick up a dial indicator, magnetic mount for it and a vice to hold the motor. I saw that AGRAV8 used a 6 inch vice to hold the motor - should I pick up the same or could I get buy with a 4 or 5 inch. Thanks very much - can't wait to build !

probably a 5 inch will suffice. I also suggest you fetch up that hardware I suggested.....and sinece this latest batch of engines from Horizon (via Century) seems to be missing the countersink phillips 5 MM screws along with the ones for mounting the pull start, you get your engine in hand and go on a hardware hunting trip.

I'll measure it again in the morning to be for sure.

After further review.....the actual width of the engine is such that a 4 inch would work as well.
