I seriously recommend confirming an actual event before the fray goes over the edge further.

Trolls can be damn dangerous for everyone.

Safe_cracker i gotta say youre one of the worst ***** ive ever seen !!! kidding around a topic so traggic. !!!!!
(edit: i see Mark deleted his messge - thanks mark)

i wasnt involved in any way in this tragedy but (this is what i posted in the second thread about this):
--------------------------------
He's not a troll, this indeed happend - all the israeli forums are full of it.
he is not accurate though - it was a student (with an instructor) that was flying a Shuttle 30, and not a Predator 60, and he wasnt doing any inverted, he was just hovering and lost control somehow, i know this since a good freind of mine witnessed this setting up another heli at the same field at the time of the accident.
its a very sad day to the hobbyists in Israel. lets pray the 12 year old boy comes out of this OK, so far he's still ammited in ICU.

Hmmmmm..

I said nothing about the little boy but the fact if it is really true or not. You are the only person I know who flies in Israel, Lior....Hope the boy is ok if indeed he was truely hurt.

To all the detractors... the link is a valid link, but it re-directs to a subscription page asking you to register before you can see the article, just like the washington post and other such publications (or was it NYTimes.. I don't recall).

The poster only put it up today, and maybe they didn't expect people to question the fact that the accident happened, and didn't think to re-write the article in english, on a public forum (not to mention possible copyright).

You now have two people from Israel, the original poster that registered in January, and a second poster that registered back in 2003.

I would rather send my best and pray for someone, only to find out it wasn't true, rather than not sending my best/praying, and rather assuming, or at the very least questioning someones truthfulness, when a) you have no evidence to the contrary, and b) just because there's someone else from israel that *some* people may not trust 2 words from (lior).

Next time maybe try politely asking them if they could post a re-written copy of the content in question, instead of stating "why can't they translate it for us?" (when its only just bloody well been posted)...

My thoughts are with the boy that was injured.

Regards,
Tyler.

Safe_cracker, Israel houses several thousands of RC pilots, your assumption was way out of line !!! and NOT FUNNY !!!!!!!!!

In my one year plus experience in this hobby, I have came across many pilots, whom in my opinion, do not have the safety factor registered in their mind. The most important reason, I believe, is the "ego" factor.

In their pursue to "show off" their expensive gadgets and new skills, they have compromise safety and endanger fellow pilots and spectators.

Once again, a reminder to everyone in this hobby that it is our responsiblilty to ensure safety.

1)Don't think that your expensive machine will not fail.
2)Don't think that your skills will not disappoint you.
3)Don't think that in an unfortunate event, you can steer the machine into a safe crash zone.
4)Don't fly in an area where members of the public are close by, eg public parks.

Have a freind that is working in Israel that I spoke to this morning, he has confirmed that this story is correct and that the guy is in bad shape. Now unless you want his parents to send you photo's of the there son in intensive care, can we please stop the defensive stance of refusing to believe somthing until its in our face. My sympathy goes to the boy and his family. But lets not loose perspective here, yes helis are dangerous. But last year alone 200 people where killed in climbing accidents, 500 in boating accidents, 20 parachuting so on so forth. Its always terible to hear of tragedy, but our hobby has a good record of safety, and by being aware of the dangers we can keep it that way

What the heck is wrong with some people?

Why would Lior and the others from Israel make this up? They wouldnt...

Just because it hasnt made World headlines yet doesnt mean it didnt happen...

I feel for the relatives of the little boy coming accross this discussion...
