Would anyone else concur that the Evo tail assembly has alot of slop in it? On mine the grips move in every direction around the center hub.

The tail on my Spec is solid.

If anyone has a tail assembly off of a Freya that they would like to sell please let me know....

Actually that is the design. The grips seat themselves once spinning. The tail is quite good especially if you put the Freya Stock Tail blades on it. There are a few threads discussing this and other tail mods people have tried on the Du.

Evo

Hi JW Burns,

The "slop" is normal and has no effect on the way it flies. The slop comes from the single radial and single thrust bearing arrangement. We used a tight blade arrangement, two radial bearings, and the difference was that the bearings actually wore out quicker. It seems the thrust bearing makes it last longer.

The Freya one is a two radial and single thrust and is tighter yes. You can put that on the Sceadu very easily by getting the following parts:

0404662 Blade grips
2500070 Bearings 3x9x3
0414164 tail housing
2506003 washers 3x6x.5t
2532028 2x 8 screws

The tail performance will increase as the tail disk will no be bigger. Note the maximum recommended tail blade is 90mm with this arrangement. I have not used 95's but the math held for 90's. Hirobo is using this arrangement on the new Option kit Sceadus but using the stock 87's "Ginsu's"

Slop

There have been so many questions regarding this, MRC should put a flyer in the box indicating this is normal.

I finally flew my EVO last weekend after it being on the bench for a month. Awesome!

It's not just the EVO though. Pretty much any machine with only one radial bearing will have lots of slop when stationary, but it works just fine in flight.
