My Posts This: Topic Forum | My take on it is that it's a mutual responsibility but more so for the homeowner. Most sizable clubs have access to frequency scanners and should periodically "test" the airwaves to determine any conflicts..... The home owner should consult with their local hobby shop to determine where any potentially conflicting sites might be located......Once a conflict is determined then it's between both parties to cooperate with each other to work things out.
There was a case with our local club years ago where a person was flying RC on his property and it caused mutual interference with the nearby club's flying field. As a matter of courtesy, the club offered the guy a free lifetime membership to the club if he would stop flying on his property and come to the club's field to fly.....To my understanding, he declined and so the club had to restrict the frequency at their flying site as a result......The homeowner is not required to have AMA insurance but the AMA chartered club had to take appropriate action once the conflict was determined..... ie, restrict the use of that frequency at the AMA site.....Apparently there was nothing "legally" that could be done to the homeower.......
Regarding your question about flying over streets and buildings, I can't comment on that...... The risks and liability issues are probably enough to choke a horse...... |
