My Posts This: Topic Forum | From what I have read, the flux ring causes the torque to occur at a lower motor rpm, so you would need to go up a tooth or two on the pinion to get best results with the flux ring. If you are judging the tail authority by where you have to set the rudder trim, you are probably just seeing the results of the fixed mixer. Using the same pinion, if the motor has a lower Kv(rpm/volt) which it would with the flux ring, you would need a higher throttle setting to hover, so the fixed mixer would be running the tail faster, and would require left rudder trim. The johnson motor without the flux ring probably has a higher Kv than the stock motor, so will hover at a lower throttle setting, causing the mixer to apply less tail rotor, and you would need right rudder trim. In either case, changing the pinion so it hovers at the same throttle setting as stock would probably fix the rudder trim problem.
