In an emergency, it would work. I wouldn't fly it that way on purpose as you no longer have the strength of triangulation of two supports and the frame. It's this triangle that gives you all the strength the boom needs.

One boom support

Me too, only one boom support, bcoz one of my graphite boom support broken in my last crash and now I fly only with one graphite boom support.

I've been flying on a single boom strut for quite a few months now with no trouble. The right side one always seems to break at the frame where it's pressed. Perhaps one of these days as my flying abilities keep progressing I'll get some CF supports.
