I don't have a sceadu YET but see if I am looking at this right:

As you look down on the fan, it is moving CCW. Right? The inlet airflow travels along the axis of rotation. The outlet airflow moves out the side. If that is true then the Hirobo fan appears to be wrong. At least it does not appear to match the design of a normal radial flow fan. The blades approaching the outlet should be curved away and not towards the outlet. Look up turbomachines and pumps in a Fluid Mechanics book for illustrations and equations. I have never seen nor can I find an example where the fan operates as Hirobo's does. I do have a Freya and I think it is the same way, I never thought about it before. I would not assume Hirobo knows what they are doing in regards to fluids until we get a better description of what their thinking is.

Hey everyone if you have Rays Authoritative Heli Manual go to page 76 and start reading you will find it interesting. It talks about this subject in pretty good detail.
Thanks, Brandon

Methinks that the one who said it is a trade off between pressure and velocity has it right. I am also of the contention that the clearance between teh shroud and fan have a lot to do with it, as well as the shape of the fan hub its self, as this would definately cause a resistance to airflow before it ever hit the fan blades. I also wonder why they don't make fans that look like the impeller section of a turbocharger?
