I was browsing the Horizon website and much to my surprise....

The B500X is back on there with the option to backorder it! A shipping date TBD.

The price was lowered to $499. When they discontinued them years ago the price was dropped to $250 for the final clearance, this is something new. Are we going to see a new, updated B500X?

Anyone have more Intel on this development?

I would be happy to see any heli come back! We have lost too many...

For me, the B500 series was a nice size with good quality. I would have preferred a kit (vs the BNF) as I like to build my own.

Still, I like them an awful lot. Hopefully if they are bringing it back, they make the servo mounts the standard size this time!

Horizon and Eflite have done an outstanding job trying to sell entry level RC stuff. And they have gotten a lot more people into the hobbies than before.

However when it comes to great and quality!!!!!!! Well that is for sure a stretch.

I have seen a few Eflite helis fly good. But they usually have a ton of upgrades and a lot of work.

I have both the B500 3D and the B500 X. Both are rock solid machines. Are they going to compete at a world level? Probably not. But as a sport knock-about heli they are absolutely great.

It's good to see them come back.

Sorry but the 500X is a monstrousity.
- high disc load
- full size servo's on 425mm?
- gigantic ESC for 500 class
- BEC causes irractic servo operation
- inefficient motor
- a tank with marginal electronics, makes the Align Trex 500 looks AWESOME

If you are a newbie .. this will work. If you are a good pilot ... you will be disappointed. But it is better than nothing or if you have been flying smaller heli's

I have worked on numerous number of heli's since 91' ... just wanted to give an accurate description.

Monstrosity? I think not. As a general sport heli, the B500 X is a fine machine. Not everyone needs or wants a world class competition heli.

You must drive a C7 'Vetted or maybe one of the new Ford GT supercars? I slum it in a Lambo. Oh wait, I mean my Suby Forester!

And as a point of reference, I started in the mid 70's with a Schluter Heli-Baby (fixed pitch) and a Schluter Heli-Boy (collective pitch) flown with a Kraft single-stick radio and NO tail gyro.

Thanks HeliFantix, well said. I believe that the small blade helicopters are worth the money, if you cannot afford the better models. I am not a 3D person. I fly sport+ and I can tell the difference. I would not recommend any blade helis >= 400 sized.

I have owned some of both. If you can say that, then it means more.

over sized servos to much current draw for fbl heli

if you move the sticks to much to fast would cause the swash plate to breakdance solution you would have to upgrade the bec.

and the blade 40's you have to split the frame to change out main shafts
blades are rtf and hard to repair and blade parts are over priced.

Insha Allah

I would say something good if there was something good to say about. It would be different if we talked about Goblins, Mikado or other brands.

Didn't know we had to sugar coat things to appease everyone.

When I got into the hobby in the beginning and bought what other recommended b/c they only wanted to say nice things. Years later ... when I knew better, I thought to myself, "what I was using wasn't all that great" I would of respected the honest truth.

Give a wise man an advise... they will say thank you.
Give a fool an advise ... they will yell at you!
