Hi G uy's, I am after a bit of help with an older nitro pro running a flybared head. I am in the middle of doing a gasser conversion and the doner heli is an older nitro pro kit with helibug frame, I have just picked up a used gy750 mainly for the tail and the govenor, but seen as it is a fb controller as well I thoutght a fbl head would be nice as all my helis are fb an I like the look of a fbl So the question is what head to use, I mainly just fly around no 3d but will chuck in the odd roll, I have "heard" the dfc style head is not really something I r want. I understand Align released a fbl head before the dfc head which sound like what iA am after, or an aftermarket one, but I am a bit stuck as I am not sure what I am looking for, as to what will work or is still available, and help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Since you are flybarred you would need pretty much totally a new head. You can go DFC route with the following

And these blade grips

Or you can do the newest standard FBL head with follower arms

You can use your existing feathering shaft from your flybarred head or you can purchase a new one. These are some of your options, you could also piece together an older FBL head if you wish. These 2 options would get you together the fastest. Both will work well with your flying style, comes down to personal preference DFC vs Standard FBL head.

Thank-you nynextl88, I would much prefer to stay with a std FBL,
So it looks like option 2 for me.
Any reason to try and peice together an older style head?

No real reason to piece together. Not sure if the price difference of each individual part as opposed to the new kit but the FBL kit or DFC kit would get you converted the quickest in my opinion and are the newest options.

nynextel88 Thank-you for your help and particualy the links, made life a lot less confusing for me. I have not kept up with all the changes to Align, and any other brands for that matter Been tied up with work and other things and have not flown any of my helis, too much time spent on planks and quads. But got them sorted and have time to get back to the Helis, prefer them to be honest. I have ordered the shaft grips and head kit, I have a couple of spare feathering shafts. So now will look at servos and a set of blades

Hi,

I converted 3 Trex 700 n pro and le to FBL, to the the first align FBL ( called 3G ) . Like the actual red anodized FL but a bit taller, and slightly different blade grips.

If your flying style is FAI/F3c , sports or soft 3D you will love this head, try it with red dampers, its really sweet.

I tested the DFC head as well and its really crispy if you prefer smacking it down

I have ended up ordering the current FL non dfc head, the red anodised one. I am happy with it being taller than the dfc style head, as I am not going to be flogging it hard, and its going on a gasser running 717 blades, fingers crossed the 717s clear the tail blades ok!!
