I have just brought a used Vario benzin trainer. It has direct to swash placement. It also has a different canopy smaller than the other Vario benzin trainer I have. The canopy looks like a airstar one. It has a 230 motor and my other one has the 240 Which Joe Howard told me is a newer model.

Just trying to figure out what models I have.

If the servos are in the side frames, you have an Airstar helicopter, not Vario.

Models

Joe that's what I was thinking. It was sold as a Vario benzin trainer. I'm posting some pics of it. First two are of it. And the second two are of my first Vario benzin that I brought off of runryder. At the southern scale event I was talking to Joe and he said it was a newer model because of the 240 motor.

Airstar

Now that we have solved that question. What happens when I need parts. From what I read Airstar is no more??

As long as you have a torque tube drive setup in that and not the belt he was using, all the Vario stuff should work. If it does have belt tail, then the Vario stuff to change it over will work as well since there is nothing around for the belt driven tail. Also, if you keep those side frames, you can fly it pod and boom. But, i have seen several models put in a fuse and experience bad resonance vibration. Its from the fact that the side frames are not hardened, and shake too much when attached to the inside of the fuse.

Ok since we have determined that this is a Airstar. Does anyone know the name of it? This way I know what to say when others ask what Model it is.

Airstar link dead

Stan thanks for the link but it's dead.

Well after searching the net. I have found out that it's a Evolution Gasser.

These are built as a trainer and mechanics for scalers too.

Here's a few pictures of mine.
I think the guy liked Black??

Mongoose

Did I hear the vario tail gear fits the goose , I wondered if it did as the two are sisters from wrong parents , but looking at the parts looks like it could work with a few mods

Airstar

From what I'm hearing and reading airstar copied a lot of things from Vario.. when he was a dealer for them. The only thing different is the belt drive system from what I understand..
The guy I got this from swears up and down it's a Vario..that's what he was lead to believe..
