I sold most of my gear and decided to rebuild my Raptor 90 into a gasser using the helibug conversion kit. I purchased a new tx (Futaba 10JA), so I am little unfamiliar with this compared to the old 9CHP. I am using a GY611, a GV-1 with a stator gator, with the Zenoah g270RC. My gyro and servos are set to the correct direction but when I try to lift off I feel like I'm in a Dead Or Alive song.

Maybe I'm not getting my head speed up properly? or my curves are off? Any help would be much appreciated!

yeah you definitely dont have enough headspeed to give you the tail authority for the gyro to hold the tail.

you should have no more than 12 degrees max pitch if your starting out, it should be hovering at around 6 - 8.

also turn off the governor when setting up you headspeed and pitch curves.... oce you got that figured set the gov up according to what you learned.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Right now, my pitch is set to 10 max/mix and 0 at half stick. Are you saying to turn the governor off and modify the throttle curve?

the idea here is to set up a throttle curve just in case the governor fails.

it also helps you feel out what headspeed your heli works best with... some helis like mine dont like low headspeed (under 1400) and then get tail shakes over 1950

a slow headspeed may work while hovering etc... but then doing a full collective climbout reveals that the tail wont hold... or when flying sideways (like funnels) your tail lets go.

like gasman says... check your tail servo direction... it kicked out rather sudden in that video... it could very well be compensating in the wrong direction.

also, at what position was your collective/throttle stick at when the heli lifts off the ground?... you generally want to be at around 75% left stick (midway between center and top) for a hover.

A couple of things you can check.
What direction are the tail blades turning? Also do you have leading edge control on the tail blades?

There maybe other problems,,direction of tail hold etc,,but the head speed is way to low for starters.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

More head speed would not hurt, but that is not the issue.

Confirm gyro compensation direction.

Increase headspeed by at good 50%.

Make sure the neutral tail rotor pitch is somewhere around 5 degrees and in the correct direction.

Make sure gyro gain is at least 50%.

Make sure the tail gyro in in CMT mode and AVCS (later you'll need to trim it in rate mode, but let's get it flying).

A mild 3D. FC3 really. I had a few 50s and this 90 until I parted ways with the 50s and the PCM electronics to convert this bird.
