I didn't do a build thread on mine (I think there have been one a few years ago in HF), but the biggest issue I found and corrected was there was too much flex in the plywood that the mechanics bolted to (the roof of the rear cabin).

I epoxied in another piece of 3mm plywood which stiffened it up considerably.

Mine now flies pretty well, but it took quite a bit of fine tuning of the Skookum 720 blue to get the twitchiness eased off.

Hi Andy

Thanks for the reply yes the floor in the dog house I was wondering as its a soft wood I might have to reinforce the floor too

Where have you located the battery the only place I can see where to put it would be in the cabin but its defeating the whole thing of having the mechanic in the dog house having to locate the battery in the cabin

I had just enough space behind the cockpit seats and the door opening for a 6s 5000mAh lipo. I mounted a section of 50mm aluminum angle, and attach the lipo to that. If you look directly through the side sliding door, you don't really see the lipo.

Here are a couple;

I think from memory, I had to remove the glued-in windscreen to get the cockpit in, and even then I think I removed one complete seat to fit it in. I tried taking a front door off the hinges, and tried through the sliding door - both without success.

I will fit the cockpit in the cabin without the seat on and then fit the seats and pilot I have test fitted and this way will work only just

That's a nice colour your uh-1n is what is the light blue ?

RC aerodyne uh-1n colour grey is the finished product I thought it was a undercoat and I had to finish it

Are those rivets or screws around the windows can't quite make out as the pic are small

The colours are drab green and black. It is the German airforce version. I wanted the grey marines version, but RCA stuffed up (again) and posted me the wrong version. I cannot find the decals that came with it.

They are small screws holding in the windows - about the smallest size stainless screws that MicroFasteners had from memory.

Before I go any further I decided to test fly and iron out and vibrational problems

Glad I did as there was a load of vibration on the tail and no matter what I did I could not shift it

so I thought I would try my four bladed head from my Agusta 109
Worked perfect no vibration at all

Now to figure out why the two bladed head is causing vibration

Andy I found the aircraft to be very skittish whilst flying how did you solve that problem on your Skookum 720 what did you tune

It was a few years ago, but some of the things I did;

1. Softer dampeners in the head.
2. Lowered cyclic gains
3. Fitted wide chord Spin asymmetrical blades
4. Increased Bell gain and reduced overall cyclic gain
5. Played around with the dampener gains

It really was a lot of trial and error to work out what had a positive affect. Good luck

The description on RCA indicates that water transfer decals were included as part of the kit - you didn't get any ?

Alternatively if you want some really nice decals, find photos of what you want and ask Callie at Callie Graphics to do you a set.

It's possible they shot it with random gray primer.
