I have a Trex 600E DFC with a mini vbar installed. Flies great.

I decided to upgrade my ESC to a higher rating, a Castle Talon 120HV.

First, I connected with Castle Link and updated the firmware and set it to helicopter mode, fixed endpoints, no governor.

The I followed the video on Castle's website on how to calibrate the throttle using the endpoints on my JR9503 radio.

Before calibrating, my endpoints on the throttle channel were 104 high and 104 low, as dictated by the Vbar setup.

After going thru the Castle calibration, it ended up at 109 high and 68 low. Doesn't seem right.

Anyone run into this issue? If I keep the changes, how will this affect the vbar setup?

Those numbers are typical from my experience.
I don't have any experience with the vbar so I can't help there.

Thanks, it's good to know they are in the ballpark. Now I have to figure out how it will affect the vbar setup.

My suggestion would be to call Castle tech support. If you can talk to Thomas he is the guru, even though he doesn't fly helis he knows his stuff with ESC setup.

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

I'll try to reach him in the morning. It seems to spool up ok, but want to make sure before I try to put it in the air.

It is right if you don't have the auto bailout checked in the castle. If it arms and spools it is ok

If you are using the vbar gov, the previous end points are correct. The ones you have now are not going to work correctly (if using the vbar gov) as they need to stay at 100 and 100.
If you are using the Castle gov, then what you have may be correct.

not using a gov of any kind. I checked the auto bailout as a test and tried the calibration again, it let the low endpoint go to 92.

The main question is will the vbar work properly if the endpoints are anything different that what they get set to during the vbar setup.

The vbar has nothing to do with the throttle when you are not using the vbar GOV.
No gov at all??? You might want to reconsider?

Ron,

I just do easy sport flying, circuits and lame attempts at figure eights. Still in the beginning stages, so I'm trying to keep my setups simple, and progress one step at a time. I just started using idle up this season. I've been doing some reading on govs, and may give it a try when I get a little more skill under my belt.

So in Vbar setup, when you are going thru and setting the all the stick travels to 100, the throttle endpoints don't really affect how the vbar works if your not using a gov? Non 100 values will be ok?

Thanks for replying.
