Question, I bought this T-Rex 550 DFC Pro V2 at a local hobby shop - it was already pre-build and it came with one Align battery 6S 5000mah 45C in total I paid $900... Even though it was pre-build, I know I got shafted, completely my foult for not researching prior to. My questions is is there a major difference between the Pro DFC V2 and Dominator ? My flying is moderate 3-D style.

It's a different frame, servos, motor and what not. In my opinion, that was a bit much for a pro,you find them here for about $400-$600 or so.....but research before you purchase anything next time. Search all the forums for the item you want, to see the going price.

As long as it is in good condition and everything works ok, you have a nice heli, although at a premium price.

Don't know if this is your first heli or not, but it's a great sized machine to learn on.

Absolutely, it's just sucks that people will take advantage of one another, especially when it comes to hobby such as this...Lesson learned for sure...

Slowpoke,

Ohh yes the heli is in great condition, I'm completely satisfied with the performance for my flying style, I might have to change the blades and dampness, but other than that it's a performer.

Heli prices only recently collapsed. So probably not deliberate.

If used excellent and on consignment, and you supplied your own TX, then maybe over paid by ~$200-$300. If new from box and the shop built for retail sale as a build service, then I would say fair price.

I like the lighter, simpler, non Dominator anyhow. Tons of bling still offered for it too (like KDE Direct, Lynx Heli, Helioption, Micoheli, RC-Tek, etc.)

But either way you got the benefit of seeing before buying and have a resource to go back to for follow up help. Further if you purchase from a classifieds forum there would still be some re-assembly as shipping a bird of this size it's usually prudent to break-it-down some.

Essentially the 550V1, 550V2, 550DFC and 550DFC Pro were all very similar with minor improvements. The Dominator does share some parts with its predecessor, but the layout changed with the motor upright, a removable battery tray down low, and revised servo layout.

Maybe if you politely discuss it with the hobby shop - they know they got over top dollar - they might cut you a break on your next purchase.

I know local shops are really struggling with the ease of mail order, and with a lot of good used equipment available via the forums, and you usually pay a bit more sometimes, although in your case a lot more.

It's a fair price for being assembled and from a brick and mortar hobby shop.
- I assume it's Bind N Fly? (For sale of this post,I assume it is)
- kit price is $550 or so?
- it's about 12-15 hours to build if you know what are doing ($200-$250)
- comes with a pack ($100)
- you would have to invest in tools, etc(if you don't have any)
- than you got your odds and ends
- if it was new and never molested, than it's not so bad

It's better to get it built right especially if is your first big bird. Always look beyond the price.

If anything, come back and ask for advice, tips and help....that could help make up the difference

Shafted?

You were allowed to leave the shop without buying, I believe.

The lights don't stay on and the doors don't remain open without profit. The hobby shop is a business, not a charity.

Go fly and have some fun with it.

No one said anything about charity, but rather doing right by one anther (It's called integrity)I suppose you are missing that ingredient. I know that personally when I sell, I try my best to give the other a deal, but that's just me.

I find it strange that you are asking this question in a public forum. It appears you paid retail and no one forced you to do so.
