Earlier this year I had two heart attacks only three weeks apart. I think I am recovered as much as I'm going to. Before the heart attacks I had committed to buy a few items on the used parts board and I'll contact each of you.
In the mean time it feels good to be back on Runryder.
I had a lot of time to think while I was recovering and I want to scratch build a heli. A huge slow flying heli anyone can fly. I intend to make it electric with the motors mounted on the blades. Now I know you're thinking i'm crazy but "wait for it!" the blades will be built up as in airplane wings with motor pods on them and it will be a three blade head.
Because the motors are on the blade/wings there will be no torque to counter but ther will be bearing drag. I propose to use an old tailrotor gearbox from a Schluter helistar connected to an electric motor. The motor would always rotata the same direction to make it simple and control can be made with pushrod. I don't think it need a gyro.
The fuselodge can be built up construction (balsa and ply)
Going back to the blades for a min. The batteries/speed control/and receiver will be one each in the Blades/wings. The ship will require four receivers. I am going to begin immeadiatly and welcome any and all input.
Even better would be if we could get several of these flying.
I am all of the following; Crazy, overweight, bad eyes,LOVE TO FLY!

Good to hear you are back up and running again. Going through an experience like that can be a real eye opener, reality check. One day at a time and enjoy yourself.

Remember, if it wasn't for us crazy people no one would know if they are normal.

Why is it someone so bad at being in charge......... wants to be in charge so bad?

So happy you are doing better and keep it slow. Trying to imagine your project and how it would work? I understand jet or thrust end blades, but not what you want to do. Could you explain further and very cool project.

That will be a great and interesting project. If you want any laser cut parts let me know. (plastic, wood, paper).
Question here:
The batteries/speed control/and receiver will be one each in the Blades/wings. The ship will require four receivers.
Why separate receivers, just tie the three speed control inputs to one receiver ( in a head button). I would think any imbalance thrust would not be a problem since the blades are linked mechanically at the rotor head.
This a great project, but go slow and don't let it frustrate you.;

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

By the way, the Hornet Hiller (in picture above) had two very bad problems for the military. One, it was very earsplitting loud meaning for low level support it always announced its location (it was powered by two Hiller 8RJ2B ramjet engines) .
Two: the ramjets red exhausts made a perfect bulls eye for the enemy.
Both of these problems will not be in your design.

each blade (wing) would need seperate receiver, speed control, battery and
motor or you could risk broken wires between blades. Little orange receivers are so cheap why chance it?

Concerning the heart attacks

The heart attacks I had in May
and June were numbers 8 and nine for me. The first 7 were treated as mayocardio infarctions (blocked cardiac arteries) but they actually caught the atrial fibrillation happening and treated acordingly.

heart attacks

The heart attacks were the easy part, It was the medication afterwards.
There is a new medication called Amioderone; It interacts with almost every
medication known to man. But it's the best medcation there is. It affected my balance so I staggered around like a drunk.
