just downed a glass of refreshing yogurt drink with a tablespoon of ice cream mixed in this instant, been drinking fruit smoothies all summer and lately frozen yogurt from the mini tubs, swimming, cycling fast down hills checking out a beach where I'd like to bring a heli because it has a huge unused space of weedy low brush but not grass with the sand all around, it's so close I can taste it.A box came in the mail yesterday but I was not home to receive it then. Went to the po to pick it up and thought what could it be, I knew I ordered something I was waiting for and a few other things from ebay, got the kst gear sets already, what could it be? Pick it up and toss it aside to make some errands after I got home from the po so it wasn't opened until an hour later.Isn't it amazing we have a source we just have to click on a few icons and process some form of e money and within a week or two something comes in the mail for us? In my case the package contained a motor for my 380 which was purchased elsewhere on the internet rc heli fan clubs and sites, and all my 380 needs to be flown is an esc. Isn't it amazing, NO HOBBY STORE = no attitude and bull sh*t, no more high prices, anything you need only a few clicks away and shipped door front.WE're SPOILEDDrink it up in a good way people times sure have changed since the 90's even, that and I flew the snot out my formerly very troubled 300 in the backyard with a few new patterns while not fearing any object it may be interfered with in the immediate vicinity like sinking back between two cedars and positioning blades mere inches from the cedar fronds, I'll make super quick and precise adjustments if needed, the heli can handle it, I can handle it. I'm so excited by rc helis lately, wow, fast.What came in? a motor for my 380, lot lighter than the sk3 1600kv one I had in there temporarily. The 380 is soooooo cool looking and just the right under size to avoid being imposing yet bigger than a punny 450 in comparison. I take the 380 to the beach people are going to be snapping picks, taking notice.Brings me to a question, with a cc 50 amp esc that is made to go up to 8s, you think I could go 7s? two turnigy 1000mah lipos are 4s and the head speed off that would be blistering, but what about 7s? motor was made for 6s but the throttle curve wouldn't top 85% on 7s or 8s.Don't you agree?

I think you would be better off with the 80 amp these 380's are hot little numbers. Specialy if you 3D.

yea, I forgot the 55 esc is going on a custom Align 450 based stretch with Scorpion motor and 380 blades, similar to the 450L but even longer and with thicker boom and belted tail(wish it would had a 4mm tail shaft from Blade 450 instead of tiny 3mm from Align,,,,bits)."hot", I'm considering a different approach to the lipo placement in the 380 as well with the esc mounted up front either in a frame extension or something and lipos in some other way (I could say here but risk being ripped off of my solutions to problems like the lipos too close to the motor pinion for instance before there's a chance to try them).I'm sort of spoiled because I have the opportunity to modify and experiment with design ideas and solutions, and that in one flight with my 300 a couple of weeks ago it went nose into the ground from 8ft up on grass and nothing got broken, just a little wee bent feathering shaft and that was it care of that opportunity (to fly these machines, to break things, fix things, make them better and do it all over again except after flying quite a bit first lol).

lol, that's the hobby,,,,,,,,,now check this out. As I was looking for specs on the 380's motor mine being a RotorStar Turnigy one with 40 amp continuous I wanted to do a comparison with ALZRC and Scorpion and whomever else makes an 1000kv >< motor. This way I can pair up an esc and have confidence the esc is good for the heli/motor combi. I have an edge lite 50 amp that will do fine and had ordered a pair of Hobbywing flyfun 60amp escs while the Hobbywing Pentium pro 60amp esc is pricey in comparison and somewhat over esc'd, the 50amp Pentium would work fine imho but I think guys want the 60amp because of the bec.So in my search for the motor I came across an ebay ad for the alzrc 1000kv motor and in the shipping details it says this
makes my day.Unfortunately for me I have to extricate an AR7200 from my Shuttle 550 to put in the 380 so it will have a fbl unit, and put my AR7300 in the 550, not exactly cheerio about the entire process given the position of the ar72 in the shuttle means some kind of work (it's in the frames real good) ohh the wiring. Using the ar7300 means being able to have 3s supply, the ar7200 was powered with a 2s lipo direct with no problem.
