I know, another Hughes 500. I just can't stay away from them for some reason. I just had to have another one, love the paint job.

RCA 600 Hughes 500
Hirobo Evo .50 nitro mechanics converted to electric
Scorpion 630kv
Hacker 110 ESC

One short flight to test, real maiden coming soon, I will try to get my son to get a video of the real maiden....

The T tail was a problem, the top horizontal piece wouldn't fit over the vertical part, so I measured it and the vertical fin thickness at the tip was almost 8mm and the horizontal part that has the hole in it was ony 6mm wide, so there is no way I could slip a 6mm slot over an 8mm piece??:
I was able to get it all glued together after alot of grinding, had to grind the vertical fin all the way down to 6mm thickness, then I was able to slide the horizontal piece on and glued it with Hysol, so it might hold for now, at least for the real maiden........

I did finally get a hold of RCA about the issue with the tail, so we will see if they replace it or not.

Really looks great and I know will fly great. Glad you were able to make the adjustments. I have been seriously looking at purchasing a quality scale aircraft but I want to purchase from someone who has at least a good to excellent responsive customer service record. Don't really need or want that hassle. Any recommendations out there?

cobieg, so your on your second one??? This is my ninth one that I put together, can't get enough of the egg I guess.

Maiden went well, it flew perfect with no vibes what so ever, I did the top mount different this time around, I cut out a piece of lite ply and fitted it inside the dog house then cut a slot out so it would slip over the Evo mechanics, I then put four small screws through the wood plate and screwed them into the wood former already installed in the fuselage, it was a very tight fit. This is the only thing I did different than my other eight that I built. Before, I just used the aluminum mounts that came with the fuselage and bolted it to the Evo frames, then to the wood former inside the fuselage.

Video coming soon, its not that good because we had to film the houses and trees, the other way had the sun in our eyes, so I had to keep it in tight, sorry for the poor video, we will do better next flight..

Well, as you can see I kind of panicked on the landing, I thought for sure the rug was going to get sucked up into the rotor so I went for it, ooops, not so scale thats for sure.......

I didn't have my skid stops on yet so I didn't want to scratch the bottom of the skids, the skid stops just came in the mail yesterday so I will get those on for the next flight and ditch the rug.

Very nice indeed!! What mechs are you have in there. I have a red fuse that I'm trying to find a Chaos frame for but can't find one so far. Is there anything else that drops in fairly easy without having to hack up the wood frame?

Hirobo Evo .50 mechanics or Hirobo SDX mechanics will fit with very little mods.

I use Hirobo Evo .50 mechanics or I have also used Hirobo SDX .50 mechanics in all my scale helis you see in my gallery.

These are old pics of my first conversions, the next post below is how I do it now, similar but using a scorpion or Hyperion.

What makes these Hirobo mechanics so great to use for scale is the fact that you get to use the stock clutch and also you can pick up a whole Evo or SDX with everything for a cheap price.

Here is the Evo mechanics installed inside the Blue Hughes 500 thats in the video, this is how it looks when converted to electric and also a picture of the top wood mount I made, sorry its hard to see but you get the idea. The second pic and the very last pic is a set of mechanics that is not installed yet and waiting on a project, you can see on the second pic, I took off the battery tray and thats where you mount the 6s 5000 45 lipo, balances out just perfect once in the fuselage but you can test fly in pod and boom just like that, little nose heavy but very flyable.
