jumping around?

as in the FBL unit getting all out of control?

or mechanically loose?

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Sounds like vibrations getting to the FBL unit.

helibug

I have had a helibug for prob. the last 6 or 7 yrs. the prob. you mentioned would not have come from the helibug conversion. I just turned my helibug into a fbl heli. no jumping around. I think the other fellows are giving you good advise.

is the "jumping" at all RPM's or at a particular point?

exactly what engine are you running?

Perhaps post a video showing the problem?

Also add as much details about the setup as you can.

hi im running a 29cc the swash plate is jumping around more like glitching an all cyclic movement but more on the elevator cyclic
hoping its going to be more of a mount issues as im using the spektrum ar7210bx which is suppose to be able to cope with vibration

its more at idle and low revs as not risking higher speed til can get this sorted

I second don s on the flybarlesss unit. Solid state electronics are susceptible to vibration damage over an extended period. Have you inspected the thin wire lead to the dsmX satellite also for damage? Make sure the plugs on that lead are also secure I have seen them come loose and the unit will still function at close range. If possible swap the entire unit for another to see if it solves your problem. Or try just swapping the satellite and lead first. If you had said a single servo or at only one throttle setting (you said low revs only because you didn't want to rev up and risk it) you were having problems the problem could be more difficult to isolate. The fact that you state the entire swash is jumping (all 3 servos being controlled by the ar7200bx) leads me to believe that some aspect of the controller is to blame.

Just a thought, but is it sitting on concrete or some other hard surface when you see the glitchiness? If so, move it to grass (softer) and see what happens.

make sure the ignition is not arcing out of the insulation onto the frame and the spark plug boot is on all the way too... had that happen to me once with the CGY750 which is normally very tolerant of vibs. I would also check the condition of the RX power..make sure its not getting noisy power.

coupla things

if you're running an out of the box RC290, thats the least balanced of the line. Its going to vibrate more at all RPMs. Regardless of that though at least from what I've seen the most common reasons for what you are seeing are:
  1. the wires into the FBL system if not secured can flop around from vibration which feeds into the sensors
  2. the FBL system is intolerant of vibration - these days this is less common than it used to be but someone suggested trying a different unit - good idea if you can
  3. some servos can dislike vibration - again unusual but it can happen. Try swapping one of them to see if it stops for that servo
  4. and as RM3 indicated if you somehow backfeed ignition power into the electrical system, it can cause this. A simple suggestion to test this is to setup a ground wire from the negative side (ONLY) of the Rx/FBL bus to the engine crankcase.

Did this problem just start when you converted to gas? Did this airframe and flight pack all function normal Prior to conversion under another power source or was everything new for this gasser build?
