i'm going to ask this question here first because I usually get good information , my x4ii has been flying perfectly for ages now , until today , I was doing a backward inv hurricane , which are now starting to get faster ,when it started to wag , which I put down to me going faster , so I decreased the gain and tried again with the same result, I tried a funnel which was fine and a sideways loop also fine so I flew the rest of the flight with the occasional buzz here and there where I would expect it if the gain was too high, I did get a buzz in a roll which I found a bit odd , but landed without issue and checked out the tail, everything seemed to be in order so I took off again with my original tail gain to check it out some more, consecutive rolls were fine , but one on its own caused a buzz , funnels too are okay even tik toks are all good ,
so my question is where should I look for a problem , I will check over the tail mechanism tonight just to make sure that all is okay, but could it be fading batteries or servo going bad or something else, like I said before I don't think its cgy related but I need to start somewhere

If everything has been fine and this kind of thing appears, the first thing to do is swap out the tail servo with all settings held the same and see if the problem perists. Tread lightly here, because if it is the servo, it won't warn you this way but for so long before it'll bite you hard.

After that start looking at things like tail thrust bearings and so forth.

I think I can get a servo to try , which I will look at this weekend , I did notice that there is some end float in the tail shaft(moves in and out ) there is a small amount in the tail slide but there is also some in the bearings , I am going to change those I don't think there should be any sideways movement between the inner race and the outer race. everything else feels tight( or friction free depending on what i'm looking at)

just installed the new bearings and all the end float is gone , although i'm still a bit wary about losing the tail , i'm going to give it a flight to see if anythings changed , if not I will have to get another servo and try that , hopefully its the bearings

tried it and it was a lot better , still had to lower the gain about 3 points and get a very occasional buzz ay very trying times . I did take another look at the tail to see if there was anything else I could tweak , there is a small amount of movement from the pitch slider which I think if I tightened up copper inside would take care of it but its very slight so i'm not sure I will bother c, but I did find something else , the arm that pushes the pitch slider while not loose does have some movement in it if I try , if I twist the blades then I can definitely see some movement , I re loctited that and now nearly all the movement in the blades is gone , this I think was my main issue. will try it out when it stops raining,
I also moved the ball link on the servo in a hole but now the endpoints are at 150% both sides , it is using all the tail movement and I wouldn't be able to go more even if there were more adjustment, is this ok or should I go back to 100% each side

it did stop raining enough today for me to try it and I think that was the answer, no more wag, I did try to increase the gain up to 50% but it started wagging in a hurricane so back down to 48% and it seems good,
