I just had a 1in shark bite fitting with valve break in half (yesterday). It was put in 1 year ago by a plumber right after my water softener. I'm selling the house and not living in it. I got a call from the realtor because neighbors called the number on the sign saying there has been a flood of water going down the street all day. That shark bite was really hard to get off and it was on new copper. I beat the Heck out of it and yes I used the Orange fitting to try to get it off. The new shark bite looks a little beefier than the old that seems like it was made of tin. I wouldn't have used another shark bite if I was going to be living there.
Good luck with yours. There are a lot of people who swear by them, not me.

You sure it was a Sharkbite, there's other brands of lesser quality

Jaws, nana..... nana... nana.

It had a shark on the handle and the plumber is a friend of a friend. He told me what it was and it had the same print on it except the handle was a different color. It also looked like they may have made it a little stronger. There were probably more problems with them than just my experience but not many people go online to talk plumbing! I just happened across this thread at the right time, otherwise I would have never said anything.

I check the fittings about once or twice a week. I am probably being paranoid, but, still. It is on my to do list to completely redo all of the Water softener plumbing. But for now, it is fine. When I do, I will be adding a big blue filter after the Water softener to ensure if the strainer breaks, no resin enters into my plumbing system.
