This letter isn't from a bunch of guys on a toy helicopter forum debating the pro's and con's of a Donald Trump candidacy. These are 50 republican national security experts.

These are sobering, somber words from experts who have helped protect this country for decades. I'd like to think they might know something about which they speak. Please read their words carefully.

The first page of the letter:
STATEMENT BY FORMER NATIONAL SECURITY OFFICIALS

The undersigned individuals have all served in senior national security
and/or foreign policy positions in Republican Administrations, from
Richard Nixon to George W. Bush. We have worked directly on
national security issues with these Republican Presidents and/or their
principal advisers during wartime and other periods of crisis, through
successes and failures. We know the personal qualities required of a
President of the United States.

None of us will vote for Donald Trump.

From a foreign policy perspective, Donald Trump is not qualified to be
President and Commander-in-Chief. Indeed, we are convinced that he
would be a dangerous President and would put at risk our country’s
national security and well-being.

Most fundamentally, Mr. Trump lacks the character, values, and
experience to be President. He weakens U.S. moral authority as the
leader of the free world. He appears to lack basic knowledge about and
belief in the U.S. Constitution, U.S. laws, and U.S. institutions,
including religious tolerance, freedom of the press, and an independent
judiciary.

In addition, Mr. Trump has demonstrated repeatedly that he has little
understanding of America’s vital national interests, its complex
diplomatic challenges, its indispensable alliances, and its democratic
values on which U.S. foreign policy must be based. At the same time,
he persistently compliments our adversaries and threatens our allies and
friends. Unlike previous Presidents who had limited experience in
foreign affairs, Mr. Trump has shown no interest in educating himself.
He continues to display an alarming ignorance of basic facts of
contemporary international politics. Despite his breathtaking lack of
knowledge, Mr. Trump arrogantly claims that he understands foreign
affairs and “knows more about ISIS than the generals do.”

Meh. How much does one need to know? Lots of fighting and flapping of lips have gone on for decades and centuries, and will for decades and centuries more.

Would Trump do the same deal with Iran that Bummer did? I very sincerely doubt it.

One of the things i like about trump is niether establishment left or establishment right like him.

Yup - 50 people (out of thousands that exist) in various security apparati that are willing to compromise their integrity in pursuit of political objectives.

And I'm supposed to just vote against my interest on this basis?

Uhm. No.

Let me ask you...if 50 FBI agents said that Hillary should notbe president, would you accept that as relevant? I'm certain there's at least an order of magnitude above 50 that feel that way.

And I'm even more certain that you'd disregard their opinions.

If some of the names on that list don't give you pause, well then you just don't know what you don't know. But then again, your responses and arguments make this a foregone conclusion.

So if we got a similar letter regarding Clinton, you'd hold to this position?

Yeah, right.

Contrary to what dilbert thinks, I am undecided at this point. If anything, my hope is that Trump drops out, and a serious conservative takes his place.

But to your point about a Clinton letter, it's not likely one will be written. I don't see the point of arguing hypotheticals.

Hmmm, I read that list of names... ALL of them establishment appointees. In other words, political shills. All part of the machine. Given Hitlery Klintoon, Kartoon Kween is the alternative, Trump gets my vote. No other choice.

Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell were nominally "repuglicans" too, but I wouldn't give two nickels for their opinions.

Nope. Although many FBI agents hold the sentiment, I doubt they'd compromise their integrity for political ends by issuing public statements.

Your letter crowd, however...

They had no such reservations against using their publicly held office to make political statements.

Speaking of integrity compromise, you are undecided? I nearly spilled my drink. Please keep the comedy coming.

First you raise a defense with an unlikely hypothetical regarding a Clinton letter, then when called on it, you try to morph it into an event you yourself don't feel could happen.

You seem conflicted and essentially arguing with yourself. Wasn't it just last week you blew Trump off as unfit to hold high office?

Try not to hurt your brain figuring me out.

It helps to understand that I put constitutional freedoms first. Above anything else.

Trump upset me dearly with that mouth of his, but I still see him as the lesser threat to the constitution.

I have a hierarchy of allegiances, like anyone. If Trump were to suddenly call for and support the unconstitutional things that Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas have done or been calling for, he'd be tossed out by me in a second.

That day, I was irritated by his lack of tact and maturity. But it doesn't erase the fact that overall he will not eviscerate the constitution like Hillary.

I'm a realist. I'm not beholden to Trump. But he's the only thing we have going that will slow this insanity.

IRS scandals, Corporate favoritism, Elitist favoritism (of which Hillary's "exoneration" is a key indicator of), racial politics, mob rule, gun control, NSA spying, holding citizens without bail or trial, centralizing control in the Fed over states rights (was never meant to be this if you read the founding - rights were meant for states - 9th / 10th Amendments.) I'm sick of it. It's brought to you by both Democrats and Republicans. They all wipe their arses with the Constitution and I'm tired of it. I swore an oath to defend this document, with my life, if necessary. A Trump vote is far less sacrifice. So if it appears sometimes that I'm not all in on Trump - you're absolutely right. I'm not. I'm all in on the Constitution. And Hillary poses an existential threat to it.

Someone else said it best. Trump's best character trait is that he is not Hillary.

And I don't think an 11th hour substitution with another Republican would work. Too many Republican voters would revolt at the idea that their legitimately won nominee was cast aside. The GOP would then have low voter turnout and lose the election. But I think you know that. And yet you seem to support that. Wonder why.

As for the nonforthcoming FBI letter - I was making the point that you would have a double standard and disregard such a letter, not that one was on it's way or likely. I was saying that you would clearly see through the politics and disregard it...yet you push it here with double standard.

Witch.duk, please stop pretending to be undecided. It's quite clear you are not.

I admire your effort but...

You can not reason with people who have no powers of reason.
You can not reason with unreasonable people.

The Trump crew on this forum will ignore facts, truth, logic and common sense. They don't read entire threads or posts. There is no such thing as intelligent discourse here.

Have you noticed anyone who opposes Trump but also does not support Hillary, is a liar. They can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that some people will not vote for Trump but also do not support Hillary. They just can't/don't/won't understand that even some Republicans will not choose Trump.

I rarely post or reply in this forum because of the high percentage of hard right stupidity. I apologize to those with low intelligence quotient, I only mean to disrespect those who are stupid.

Helidragon - If you really think Witch.Duk to be some independent unbiased fencesitting observer, I invite you to look over his post history. Explore. Maybe then you'll know him like I do. He's never had a kind word for anything GOP nor a harsh word for anything Obama. So you figure out how independent that makes him.
They can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that some people will not vote for Trump but also do not support Hillary.
As for this - if I saw these folks spending 1/10 the amount of time on Hillary's (plentiful) faults as they do on focusing on Trump's, I might buy it. But the fact remains that you all are either not comprehending that ONE OF THE TWO will be president, or you are playing games. Look, if you don't support either, fine, stay at home on election day. But I don't see apathy in you guys. I see concerned action. You are here, emotionally involved in forum discussions, trying to make the case against Trump. But yet doing no such effort against Clinton.

We are not stupid. Quite the opposite. The resistance to these tactics shows that we weren't born yesterday. You guys prefer her. We get it. Maybe you even prefer her like I prefer Trump - in that you are not crazy about her, but you nonetheless see her as the lesser of two evils, for you. That's fine. Hold that position. It's your right as an American. But don't pull any deception online where you try to come across as disinterested or unbiased observers.

Oh and the ad hominem attacks are not an argument. They are the sign of a lost one. If you are having to resort to namecalling, you've got nothing left.
