I know the engine and frame are destined for 3D flight but for now I'm looking to maximize flight time and tone down this beast. I remember flying my fury expert with an OS 70SZH at like 1750rpm and it made good flight time and was pretty tame and stable

any tips? please don't tell me to get a gasser or electric lol

Go to low an engine rpm to get the head speed you want will lug the engine or get it hot. What gear ratio do you have now and what are the options for other gear ratios.?

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I fly my X-Cells with an 8.18 gear ratio and they perform comfortably at 1,450 rpm. You are not going to do a lot of hard flying but it is relaxing and enjoyable stick time.

Any lower and I start to get head wobble. My MA helis currently have OS engines in them but going back some years ago they has YS ST4 .91s installed.

What fuel are you using? How much nitro? Try 15 or even 10%.

Reducing head speed will help but you won't get the flight time you had with your .70.

I've seen two examples of 700 machines with OS105's at 1000rpms doing very smooth/slow 3D right on the deck. the engines didn't sound real happy about it and the governers were working their tails off, but they did work as required. The 91 may not be quite as good that low but should work. They way taylor and nick had them working at 1000, I'll bet they could even go a bit lower.

Looks like the gear ratio is the main hangup here ! Find some old M1 pinions of 9~12 teeth and use the 112 M1 straight main gear.

Just remember the clutch won't be gripping as hard and could slip.

60% of the time, it works every time!
