My last logged time as PIC was May 14, 2001. A closed head brain injury shortly after resulted in a health issue that would have prevented my passing a 3rd Class Medical Exam. To ease the pain from loss of flight, my Wife got me throughly in involved with RC helis. My good friend and current part time employer, John Glennon, arranged an hour of dual flight at our local flight school. Preflighting and getting in to the Cessna Skyhawk was like snuggling up with a long lost love. Local flight, some airwork, a couple of take offs and landings, and the instructor didn't have to touch the controls at all. The best part was the line he added to my logbook entry, "Return to flight, awesome job." I place all the credit for that with my primary flight instructor from 36 years ago, Ed Urbanowsky. Thank you Ed, where ever you are!

And thank you, John, for making sure I got back into the air.

Hi Buz, Riley will be in all week. I won't be in until Saturday. Although I do have to drop off a repair that I completed while the store was closed. I have slightly strange hours scheduled for August so it will be sort of hit or miss to catch me.

Sounds like Fun Gerry, A "Full size Heli" pilot told me once that he tried flying a Radio control Heli once and it really took him by surprise ! He thought it would be "easier" the main difference is the orientation---Full size= always tail-in, RC heli= where-ever

I started flying fixed wing R/C about 10 years before I started full size flight training. So by the time I got into a full size aircraft, I already had a great understanding of how the flight controls worked as well as the relationship between pitch and power. I used to take a high wing trainer up to the airport, get it "3 mistakes high", and then let the full size pilots try their hand at flying it. Leave it to say that the results were often hilarious, with R/C flight gaining a new found respect from the full size pilots.

My wife has arranged for an hour of dual later this month in a four place, turbine powered Robinson helicopter. I believe it is a new
Model R66. This flight will be with Seacoast Helicopters operating out of the old Pease Air Force Bas in New Hampshire. I can hardly wait!
